I should be drifting off, but my mind is still buzzing, still reaching for something to hold onto. “I can’t sleep,” I admit after a few minutes. “My brain won’t stop.” “What do you need?” “Tell me something. A story. Something that isn’t about councils or threats or ex-girlfriends or Nathaniel.” I shift closer, pressing my face against his chest. “Something to quiet my head.” “I don’t do stories.” “Then make one up. Something boring enough to knock me out.” The sound he makes might be a laugh. Might just be an exhale. Hard to tell with Knox.

"It's getting late. I'll read this to you so you can drift off to sleep with pleasant dreams." He assisted Andrea in lying down on the bed before he started reading from the book. "Snake and frog were once friends, living in the mill town..." Andrea's eyelids grew heavy as she listened to Mr. Singers' bedtime story, eventually drifting into a deep sleep. Stopping his reading when he noticed Andrea had fallen asleep, Mr. Singers carefully set aside the comic book and ensured Andrea was covered snugly with the bedsheet. He then settled on the sofa, keeping a watchful eye over her as she slept.

"Tell me something that will make me dream sweetly." Victor chuckled and began to recount tales from his childhood, his voice low and soothing. He spoke of family vacations, mischievous adventures with friends, and moments that shaped him into the man he was today. His words painted vivid pictures in my mind, and though, I’ve heard those stories so many times and know them, they still felt so new and good. Before I knew it, my eyelids grew heavy. I drifted off to sleep, wrapped in his warmth and comfort. It felt like heaven.

he replied and yawned. “Oh, dear. Somebody’s sleepy already,” she laughed. “Come on, let’s get you into bed.” She tucked him into bed and told him to choose a storybook from a nearby shelf. He did and she began to read it in a low voice. He was already asleep before she got to the third page. She closed the book softly and returned it to its place, then she curled up on the makeshift bed that one of the nannies had brought for her. She’d dismissed them for the night earlier because she wanted to have some alone time with her son. She fell asleep almost immediately and she dreamt…

As she settled in beside him, Theo snuggled close, his small body seeking the warmth and comfort of her presence. "Mama Hazel, will you tell me a bedtime story?" Theo asked, his eyes filled with anticipation. Hazel smiled, her heart swelling with love for the sweet boy who had captured her heart. She began to weave a tale of magical adventures and brave heroes, her voice soft and soothing in the quiet of the night. As the story unfolded, Theo's eyelids grew heavy, his breathing slowing into the steady rhythm of sleep. Hazel watched over him, her hand resting on his back, feeling the gentle rise and fall of his chest with each breath.

I mumbled emotionally before I proceeded in reading the storybook. Reading bedtime story was quite fun and relaxing until I felt the need to sleep so, I closed the book, put it on the side table and turned the lamp on. I yawned as I carefully laid down, slid half of my body in my thick comforter and let myself fall in a deep slumber.

Andrew's eyes remained fixed on the documents in front of him as he circled and marked them with a pen. "Daddy, we can't sleep," June said softly. "Daddy, Daddy, can you tell us a bedtime story?" Andrew replied nonchalantly, "No." "Why?" The two children walked over to Andrew and looked up at him. "Mommy always tells us bedtime stories. We can't sleep without bedtime stories." "Just close your eyes and you'll fall asleep," Andrew said. June reached out and tugged at Andrew's clothes. "We tried, but we couldn't sleep."

Short terrifying stories that leave you insomnolent . . . definitely a must read to while away time and get sleepless with fear, hahaha. I don't own any of this stories. That’s all that matters to me. After chatting with our little man for a while longer. We give him fun-filled bubble bath, put him in his pajamas, and tuck him into bed. We sit with him for at least another hour reading his favorite bedtime stories until he falls into a deep, restful sleep. Even then, we don’t move. We’re too enraptured in the simple pleasure of watching our dear child sleep.

“We’ll stay until you fall asleep.” Liam lies back down, his little hand reaching out to grab mine. I sit on his other side, smoothing the blanket over him. “Daddy, tell me a story,” he mumbles, his voice already heavy with sleep. Jason chuckles softly, leaning down. “Once upon a time, there was a brave little wolf who loved his Mommy and Daddy very much but was scared to sleep alone in his bed...” By the time Jason finishes the short tale, Liam is breathing evenly, lost in dreams. Jason glances at me, his voice barely above a whisper. “He’s out.”
