“You’re not taking her.”
The furies laughed, their voices echoing through the night. “You cannot stop us, Hayden. Her soul… her power… it is already ours…”
“No,” Hayden said, his voice low and dangerous. “It isn’t.”
Without warning, the furies lunged forward, their claws outstretched, their eyes glowing with deadly intent. Hayden moved in an instant, his sword slashing through the air, cutting through the darkness with a blinding flash of light.
The furies shrieked in pain, recoiling from the blow, but they weren’t done yet. They circled us, their movements fluid, like smoke drifting through the air, searching for an opening.
