In Lab and War

In Lab and War

– I blurted out with an air of skepticism, almost spitting out the coffee I had just sipped in my mouth. - Relax… we are not going to burn down the lab or anything. Since your project also depends on him now, well, we need to guarantee he's kept alive. - She winked. - Right? - You have to outsmart him. War tactics also include playing the role of the silent, peaceful, lovely enemy, who is always ready for any attack. Preparation is everything, darling. It's half the war won. - Okay? - I must confess that there were times when Susie surprised me, or scared me. And that was one of them, and I just could not decide which was it this time. It could easily be both.

Blood War: The Awakening Book 1

Blood War: The Awakening Book 1

I heard Amber uttered, "This is her fight," Feeling the anger channeling through my body, I grabbed the top of the wolf's mouth and the bottom, crying out as I tore him in half. Tossing the corpse aside, I fell to my knees, my body drenched in its blood as I sobbed, staring down at the nails that grew into claws, feeling fangs brushing against my bottom lip, "Oh my God..." Al whispered, "I monster!" I cried louder, "That is why I— I wanted that file so bad, because... I knew I was different,"

War Among Alphas

War Among Alphas

Taz turn on a small torchlight which he had taken along with him before sneaking inside the sacred library. Every book in the library was about the blood moon beast. Despite the alikeness of all the books, there was a particular one that caught Taz's attention. It was a grey book with ancient inscriptions. He pulled it out, dusted it and hid it inside his garment and hurried out of the hidden room. Unknown to Taz, as he walked out of the room through the secret door and out of the library, the secret room disappeared and there was no secret library there anymore.

The War Ended, My Life Began

The War Ended, My Life Began

“Julian won’t give up easily. I have a better idea. A friend is dean of Columbia Business School. He owes me a favor. You’ll have to take the entrance exams, but I know you’ll pass." "America is about to enter a golden age after the war. The economy will boom, and women will have more freedom than ever. Business will give you power, independence. You’ll never have to depend on a man again." I thought about thirty years of depending on Julian, of being invisible in his empire. He was right. "I’ll do it," I said. Sebastian smiled. "Good. I’ll call him tomorrow. You can stay here with us. No one will find you here."

I don't think I can finish reading this because these mistakes are so bad & stupid. Brooklyn is part of NYC, it's not a tiny town. And even in 1945, you can't get into Vassar with somebody else's acceptance letter unless you also steal their identity. She could enroll even without the letter.
Terri Lucas
I enjoyed the story as it is different from others of this ilk. Just keep in mind that her rebirth starts in 1945, the next year the writer mentions is 1952,..and the reader is left adrift after that....

Rejected By My Mate, Claimed By The Lycan king

Rejected By My Mate, Claimed By The Lycan king

I reached past his massive arm, grabbed the cup of black sludge off Camilla's tray, and stared him dead in the eye. "Wait, Zaria, don't!" Camilla warned, reaching out. "It’s burning hot and it tastes absolutely—" I didn't let her finish. I tipped the cup back and forced the burning, bitter liquid down my throat in one massive gulp. It tasted like ash and old copper, scorching my throat and making my stomach churn, but I didn't blink and I didn't cough. I slammed the empty silver cup back down on the wooden tray, never breaking eye contact with the old warrior.

Wife, Wine, War

Wife, Wine, War

I knocked aside their hands and bolted into Belgard. The first horror that greeted me was graffiti scrawled across the 10,000-dollar wine barrels: *Jacques Mightiest*. Every glass I had commissioned at great expense from master artisans bore a tacky tag that read, *Art, by Jacques.* The drawing room, once lined with refined paintings by masters spanning centuries, had been stripped. The canvases lay heaped in a corner as though set out for a yard sale. In their place, an ugly canvas reading "Jacques and the Jax-Minnies" hung at the center of the wall.

The taste is so intoxicating, it’s like melted chocolate but also like a rainy day. Only one word echoes in my mind. Mate.

"I'll make it up to you next time. I have to get going now. Go give my men some gifts so you can salvage your dignity a little." Before she could agree, he had already left. He didn't know why Stephanie was suddenly craving corn soup, but he did as she wished. He headed to the market to buy some groceries and washed the ingredients before putting them into the soup. A whole hour of simmering later, the room was filled with the aroma of corn soup. All William could think about was the image of Stephanie drinking it. The minutes ticked by, but Stephanie had not come back. At first, he was excited, but then he grew anxious and eventually restless.

A Mother’s War

A Mother’s War

Tyler shouted from inside. “Yes, T! Serve your food and eat some.” “I knew it! Charles said. “My nose buds could never deceive me!” “What?” Rose laughed. “The food! I could smell it!” “Oh really?” “Yes! Mac and cheese is my favorite!” Rose smiled. “It’s mine too.” Charles raised a brow. “So… are you going to let me stand out here while you and Tyler enjoy all that alone?” Rose blinked and quickly stepped aside. “Oh please, come in.” “Thank you.”

THE TASTE OF HIM

THE TASTE OF HIM

said he, low and rough around the edges. I blinked, caught off guard. "Yes, and you are?" He gave a small, humorless smile. "Just someone who admires your work. I've followed your art for years. Controversial stuff. Lust. Desire. Sin. You paint what people are too afraid to say." There was something about the way he spoke that always seemed to tighten my chest. He was not flattering me; he was confessing. "Thanks," I muttered as I finished yet another drink.
