After the boys had left my room, I went through my bag and pulled out my favorite book, Night Flame, by Catherine Hart. I sat back in my chair by the window, prepared to spend the rest of the afternoon reading when a shiver ran down my spine. I jumped out of my seat and spun around to see a pair of yellow eyes glowing in the corner of the room. As those eyes drew closer to me, I realized that it was Simon, the fae that came to warn me the other day.

I could hear my heart pounding inside my chest and my vein thumping in my throat. "So before taking another wrong step think about your little friend here," he spoke. He had filled the remaining distance between us and towered over me. I looked at Claire, who was staring back at me. This man has destroyed everything of me before and now, he was back to destroy me. You must be wondering who this man was and why was he after me. So, let's start from the beginning. This story began about a year ago. On my birthday night, that night which became my worst nightmare. I remember it as if it only happened yesterday.

She says matter of factly. I'm stunned into silence at the wisdom this little girl holds and I struggle to find words when Lorie begins to speak again. "I know you're not a normal human. I can see your energies and they are far from a normal human's energy. I also hear you crying from your room at night sometimes." She says as she looks at the ground. There were faint dark circles under his eyes, and there was a probing look in the way he watched me. "Did you sleep okay last night?" he asked. I yawned and rubbed my eyes. "Not really. I had a nightmare." "What did you dream about?" I looked at him, my eyes wide, innocent, and confused. "I dreamed about your brother, but it felt like he actually came by and kissed me." "Dante's" body went rigid, and his eyes behind his glasses narrowed sharply. "Are you sure it was a dream?" "I guess…" I said, sounding uncertain. "It just felt so real. He reeked of alcohol."

Bad things happen on her birthdays and they were usually the dreams she had a night before, coming to reality. They were usually slight occurrences that didn't involve death but they were still bad. The worst thing about these nightmares was that it seemed there was nothing that could stop them from happening. They were bound to happen and Juana called it her curse. But her dad and granny thought it was fun or magic. Even if it was evil. "It'll let us know what to do and what not to do" Granny said but the evil still happened anyway no matter how careful they were in trying to prevent it.

Liora's POV The nightmares started three nights after the training room attack. At first, they were quiet — soft whimpers in the dark, Alora tossing and turning in her sleep. But by the fourth night, they had become full-blown terrors that tore through the silence of the mansion like shattered glass. “Mommy! No! Don’t take me!” Her scream ripped through the room at 2:47 AM. I bolted upright, heart exploding in my chest, and pulled her into my arms before she could thrash herself off the bed.
