I chuckled and pulled up my laughing mate. “Ok. So the names are really weird and I am guessing that rooms will be crazier, right ?” Kai said. “Not crazier than the fact that a part of the cottage touches the bottom of the lake and you can see everything inside the lake,” I simply said. “What ?! That’s crazy ! How come the place is not flooded ?” he asked in astonishment. “Because my dear mate, the house has been separated from the lake by dragon glass and no power of God can break that thing,” I explained.

It was a small ray of hope amidst the difficult situation we faced. "Then what is the matter?" I pressed, my voice trembling with trepidation. He let out a tired sigh, showing that the story he was about to tell was going to be difficult. "That call was from First Bridge Bank in Gaines Village. It seems Jake had taken out a mortgage on our cherished property, the lake house on the outskirts of town. They're proceeding with the foreclosure," he divulged, and a gasp involuntarily escaped my lips. Memories so dear to us were etched within those hallowed walls, serving as our sanctuary since childhood. How could Jake have been so reckless?

Arc 23: The Lake House The lake house belongs to Soren's family. Four bedrooms, a wraparound deck, a private dock, and a lake so still in the evenings it looks like something poured. We've been coming here every summer for three years, the same four of us. Soren and his girlfriend Bex. Me and my best friend Cleo who is not my girlfriend and has never been my girlfriend and has been sleeping in the room next to mine for three summers while I lie awake thinking about the very specific sounds she makes when she laughs at something genuinely funny.

"I sold the big white house across the lake from us. Billionaire from New York needing a weekend getaway." "More New Yorkers? What's the world turning into? Our little paradise is soon to have an overpopulation of strip malls and then what? High rise buildings? I shudder to think." Jake looked over his shoulder and smirked as they walked into the brightness of the kitchen.

I just drove, like if I slowed down the loan sharks would somehow catch up and drag me out of the car. At last the private road appeared, unmarked except for a single black mailbox with a silver V etched on the side. I turned in. The tires crunched over fresh powder, the pines closing in on both sides like silent guards. The lake house rose out of the darkness ahead of me, three stories of glass and timber glowing gold against the storm. It looked exactly the same and completely different, bigger, colder, lonelier.

she grabbed my hand and took me to the backside of the house. The minute I walked out I involuntarily gasped out loud. That was the most beautiful place I’d ever seen in my whole life. A beautiful wide lake, jungle in the other end, waters reflecting the color of the sky and a wooden, no railing bridge that ended right at the center of the lake. “This is beautiful Aunt Nancy,” I stated. “It is right? When Max and I were looking for a place to build our house, we found this place and I instantly fell in love with this scene. So, we built a house here and made it our home.”

I asked, starting to get nervous. "You'll see.." he was still focusing on the road. Then suddenly I saw a lake and there was also a house, with lots of windows. There were yellow lights surrounding the house. The lake sparkles from the reflection of those lights. This place was so beautiful and the house was not really big, but enough for a family to live. Greyson stopped the car in front of the lake house and i got off the car immediately, stunned by the house. "Oh my God." I mumbled to myself. "Is..is this house yours?"

When Richard’s cell phone rang, he tended to the call while I unpacked a few things for the weekend. The bathroom was as big as my whole apartment in Chicago. There were walk-in closets, a double sink, a soaking tub with jets, and a huge shower. Around the corner, windows with a view of Lake Michigan surrounded a hot tub. With the house situated on a lakeside cliff about a hundred feet above the water, those windows gave an eagle’s-nest view of the lake and trees. A peaceful sight. From the window, I couldn’t see the shoreline below, but I could see the wide, expansive Great Lake and the triangular sails of a boat in the distance.
