As brutal as the hunters were, they were equally as compassionate and kind. The locks clicked open, and we slipped inside. I pulled my jacket tighter around me. He hated Hunters with a passion. I let him take over, and he leaped onto the man, his jaws relentless, biting him over and over again, blood spurting all over our fur and the ground

Pain rips through my skull even without touching me. “AMBUSH!!!!” Jaxon roars and his men scatter. I move fast. I rip a net free before it fully deploys and throw it back. It catches a hunter mid-step, slams him into a tree. A bullet pierces through me as the shock clips my arm. I grunt but keep moving. Midnight surges, furious. She wants to help but she can’t. I take down three hunters without shifting. I used my dagger, going for their throat. One of them stares at me, eyes wide. “It’s her…..”

"It’s a trick! They want you weak so they can finish us!" The hunters didn't wait for my answer. They were machines of bone and steel, their eyes glowing with a cold, violet light. The man in the black mask pointed a heavy silver cannon at us. "Kill the mother! Capture the seed!" he roared. A blast of violet energy tore through the air. I dived to the left, pulling Leo against my chest. The beam hit a glass bookshelf, sending a rain of sharp crystal shards across the floor. Rowan lunged at the nearest hunter, his claws tearing through its metal neck, but three more took its place. They were fast, moving with a mechanical precision that made my heart race.
