"what? Why are you surprised? I am not deaf and dumb you know." My shocked face quickly turned to a happy one. Mom was known for her act of pretense. She was a joker in the house and always made a joke out of us all. Her voice was usually firm, as it was right now. Perhaps she had been pretending to the people who kept her.

mom said. “Justa week? Two years is longer than a week.” I whispered but made sure that they can hear it. “Is she Sunny? Oh my gosh she is so pretty.” “I know. No need to mention.” “My mom is the joker of the year.” the guy answered. And I guess he almost the same age as me or older. “Really? Well, I am the joker of the decade. So, yeah.” as expected, I can see my mom already kiling me using her eyes. Hahaha.

“My Mom was always the broadcaster. Always talking. Always had something in mind to say. Something important to chip in. Growing up as a child, I saw her as a talkative, meddlesome, basket mouth.” A short laugh escaped my mouth. I wasn't supposed to laugh. This was Mrs. Jocelyn's mom we were talking about here. A serious matter. But I couldn't help but laugh. Basket mouth? Who calls their Mom a basket mouth? Mrs. Jocelyn didn't care that I laughed. She didn't look pissed. She gave a smile, them started laughing too, like we were talking about the weather.

I glared at her. She laughed. “Just kidding, baby.” My mom raised her hand with a “peace” sign. In order not to be fully consumed by my worry, I diverted our topic into something funny. We talked about my childhood days. My mom told me what embarrassing things I did when I was a child. “Yeah. Badly!” My mom burst out into laughter. “You even pack your things!” “Seriously, ma?” I don’t have any idea what my mom is talking about. Maybe, I was a kid.

I retorted, "Your mom's health started failing quite a while back. I told you about it several times before, but you were just too busy taking care of the 'terminally-ill' Phillip to heed my words. That's why you were unaware of her situation for so long! "That day, I called you when the doctors were performing emergency treatment on her. However, you only picked up after multiple calls, and even then, you barely spoke to me before running off to soak in the hot springs with Phillip! Have you forgotten about that?"

But Mama’s brows just met as she frowned when she looked at me, and by that, I knew that she took my joke seriously. “Ouch! Ouch! Let go of my ears mom!” I shouted when she pinched my ear and pulled it lightly.
