The older woman retorted, a snicker escaped my lips, and I raised my eyes to see her looking at me with admiration, it was as if she was seeing a pregnant woman for the first time. “Mom, No. I have told you to stop using that as a joke, you can’t go into a prison and we won’t be caught, even if we are, we can’t be locked in a prison,” Hunter scolded, I squinted my eyes to understand what he was saying, before I was able to comprehend that that is a regular joke. “You take things extremely seriously, geez, someone would think you’re sixty-six instead of twenty-six, don’t be surprised when you start having grey hairs.” She sighed, calming down but still grinning.

She felt her lungs become tight as her eyes began to sting. "I think a Momma is someone who would eat nasty spinach when they want butta butta cake. And a Momma is going to fix up her baby's room so that she can be a princess. A Momma is going to work extra hard so that her baby has what they need. A Momma does my hair and not the other way around! Momma's cook dinner instead of bringing home fish and French fries for dinner every other day! And a Momma should say, Juicy you are not alone; even though Felix is dead now, you are not alone!" Her hands were balled into tight fists and she looked down at them suddenly.

CHRISTY: My phone rang again and without making Mom wait, answered it. “What’s going on?” I asked. “Was that a prank, Mom? Or is this some kind of joke?” My voice trembled in the end as I held my phone close to my ear. My throat went dry as I waited for my mother's reply. “A prank? Is that the result of watching nonsense videos? You think your Dad's life is some sort of joke?” Mom snapped on the other side of the line.

I did not wait for her to continue. “It is a joke I share with my Mum agape mou. It is something we always laugh about every time I come visiting.” I revealed with a self-deprecating snort at my Mum and she laughed lightly. I could feel my mate trying to control the humour from twitching her lips also. Much better!
