The next morning, the guards and chef were already awake before I was. I had barely finished washing up when I saw them standing in the main hall waiting for me. Judging from the looks on their faces, they had already seen what was happening outside. I turned toward the street beyond the one-way glass just in time to see a swarm of grotesque zombies roaming the roads. Some still vaguely resembled humans, but most were drenched in blood, their faces twisted into horrifying shapes. A few were so badly mutilated that their organs spilled out as they ran.

No one had visited this place in a long time; even just one visitor… was enough to make his heart rejoice—rejoice because it signaled that someone still remembered this place. BOOOOMMM…. BOOOOMMM…. Graooor! “Damn it, this really isn’t easy. How can there be zombies carrying bombs in their hands? Who created these zombies?” asked Xiao Chen as he ran, chased by so many zombies. And the zombies’ madness was making Xiao Chen dizzy—because every time he destroyed one, ten more would appear, ten times as many as before.

The good vibes didn't last. That night, the first scream since the apocalypse ripped through the complex. *** I watched the zombies go in. Three of them. I shoved the kittens under the bed and slid in after them, barely breathing. The first-floor residents were dumb enough to light candles and draw a bath. They were the first ones cracked open. One zombie looked like he'd been a beggar—filthy, matted hair, yellowed teeth. Like he hadn't eaten in years, he tore the man's stomach open with his nails and dug in.

I remained silent at the front, with my gun raised and ready the whole time. The emergency lights in the research lab flickered on and off, and the air stank of blood and decay. Distant growls of the zombies rumbled through the halls. We were about to reach the exit when a familiar wail cut through the darkness. "Help… Please, help me!" I took a closer look and saw Esmeralda pinned against a wall by three zombies, their teeth sinking into her. Her right arm had been ripped off, blood gushing like a fountain.

You might be having a normal conversation with your mom one day but it could be a shapeshifter and you wouldn't even know." As he spoke to me, a little piece of my memory from that night came back.

It seemed even the military personnel had realized that the zombies were simply impossible to wipe out. The neighborhood was quiet, but abnormally so. We occasionally heard some zombie roars, and there was no one alive in sight. Joyce looked out the window curiously at the zombies roaming around outside. "Mommy, why won't they stop walking?" She still couldn't understand life and death. I said cajolingly, "Because they're very ill and can't go home. If you see people like them outside, remember to hide, okay? Or you won't be able to come home, too. Do you understand me?"

The others nodded as they also felt something wrong but why? "If I found the person who did this, I will punish him severely" Evan Potter sternly said and gaze on everyone. They quiet own and started to analyze situation as to why the zombies are forcing themselves inside. "They are attracted to noises, human scents and...?" Zeke Santos mumbled as he ponder. "uhmmmm... Why are you bleeding, Captain?" Ariel Montes asked when he noticed a blood stained on his arm. Everyone looked at Evan Potter's blood stain, then, looked at each other.

The first zombie broke through the defenses, its rotting fingers grabbing the edge of the deck as it climbed up! "Ah!" Screams erupted instantly. The zombie was bloated. Its eyes hung on its cheeks as it lunged straight at me. "Clarissa!" Hans yelled, immediately raising his gun and aiming at the zombie in front of me. The next second, he was immediately drawn to Winnie's scream. "Hans! I'm scared!" He hesitated for a second before immediately turning his gun toward the zombies near Winnie. My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach.

She spotted a specific article a stranger had made a few hours ago. 'Everything you need to know to survive the walkers.' Brie frowned. "Walkers?" She shrugged and kept reading. '1. Walkers are attracted to noise, movement, and smell. If their body isn't damaged enough, they will have enhanced senses. Avoid contact at all times. 2. DO NOT touch them. Stay away from any saliva, blood, or disconnected body parts. It WILL infect you if it enters your body. It is giving the virus easy access. 3. If your companion, pet or family members have been in contact or are showing any of these symptoms (coughing, seizures, foaming at the mouth, fainting, vomiting) stay FAR AWAY, or if possible, kill them.
