Between Love and Ideals

DANIEL'S POV

I walked into the room and stared at the three men who had been made to kneel by my underlings. The blood on their body and faces were proof that they had been badly roughed up.

I felt pleased with the sight before me, traitors were not welcomed in my gang, and nor were they allowed to live. They both began to plead for their lives when I cocked my gun.

"Please boss, I didn't mean to do it" the first one begged. "I needed money for my wife's surgery that's why I did it" the second one cried. I stared at the third man, waiting for his excuse as well but he kept quiet. "At least he gets to die with his dignity," I thought to myself.

Just before pulling the trigger, I reminded them "stealing my coke and selling it to a rival gang is an offense punishable by death. Be sure to remember that in your next lives."

I pulled the trigger after speaking and blew their brains out consecutively before leaving the room. I didn't feel any sympathy for them. They should have known better than to steal from the infamous Daniel Straw, yes that's me.

I am seven feet tall with a fatless belly and broad spartan shoulders which speaks volumes of the strength I possess.

I have dark brown hair and bristly thin eyebrows, shaped like the crescent moon.

My clear blue, almond-shaped eyes shine as bright as the stars at night and the sharp contours of my face are naturally sculpted to perfection.

My aquiline nose and well-defined cheekbones which sit above my flinty Jaw, draw attention to me more than I believed is necessary.

Yes, I am sexy and handsome by all standards and my devil-may-care-attitude is everything. However, beyond all these is a man believed to be ruthless. Women wish to be in my arms but the fear of not going back home alive keeps most of them away from me.

I am the leader of the Blood Dragon Mafia Gang and my name alone strikes terror in the hearts of other Mafia gangs and police officers alike. People say I am a beast, they hear rumors and it terrifies them.

I am not surprised though, only a few people know that I am the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. Back when other gangs use to challenge us to war, I usually led the fight. Once I was in my werewolf form, I moved with the speed of lightning and my body was impervious to bullets.

I went to such fights with only the top members of my Mafia gang who were also members of my pack. We barely left any survivors and the few that lived spread the story that I was a beast and so were my underlings.

The rumors were not verified and would most likely never be but, they were enough to strike terror in the hearts of our enemies and it's been years since anyone else tried to come up against me.

I wasn't always this strong and amazing. My parents who were the Alpha and Luna of the Blood Moon Pack, died when I was just five, leaving me at the mercy of the pack members.

I was treated like a servant and became the omega of my pack. I grew up serving the alpha and betas of my pack and my life was extremely miserable, to say the least.

When I turned nineteen, the Luna of my pack tried to seduce me. I was the most handsome man in my pack so I understood why she would be attracted to me but I felt disgusted. She was old enough to give birth to me and I preferred girls my age so I turned her down.

She was upset and promised to teach me a lesson. She made good on her threat a few days later when she accused me of trying to rape her. I was beaten up terribly and kicked out of the pack. They left me for dead as they were convinced that I would be found and killed by werewolf hunters.

I spent the next two years of my life alone but during that time, I trained myself and honed my skills until I became very strong. I went back to my former pack and challenged my Alpha to a duel. It was a fight to the death and everyone believed I would be killed because I was young and seemingly weak whereas the Alpha was very strong.

I defeated him effortlessly by severing his head from his body with my bare hands and that's how I became the Alpha of my pack. Those who had treated me horribly in the past were so afraid for their lives that they left the pack one by one.

I slowly built a pack of strong and loyal men and women. Eventually, I formed the Red Dragon Mafia Gang. Now, we are both the strongest pack and mafia gang in the world and I couldn't be more proud of myself.

Everyone sees me as a strong, unbeatable leader who lacks nothing but the truth is that I am very lonely. Yes, there is an endless supply of women for me, some from the pack and others from outside.

There's this particular beta in my pack, Ashley. I find her appealing because she knows how to do wonderful things to me in bed. She rejected her mate just to be at my service and I have rewarded her handsomely for it.

However, the one thing I want the most is to have my mate. I see the bond between the werewolves in my pack who have been mated to their partners. I hear it's an amazing feeling that can't be compared to anything else.

I would give anything to have that but I guess it's too late for me. Members of my pack get mated at eighteen and I'm already thirty years old. I waited for years without experiencing a mate bond with anyone until I finally gave up. I can't have everything now, can I?
