A lash came on my back causing me lose my balance. I winced from the pain and hurriedly got to my feet.

"How many times have I asked you to wipe the floors clean?!" I heard our alpha bark at me. Faye was like no other alpha, she hated the omegas of our pack, the Coven pack, because her father, alpha Resh, died while protecting us.

"I'm sorry Alpha," I said. I dared not cry, it would only worsen my situation.

She wiped my back one more time with the whip. I held the pain in, "I better not return to this room and it's not prepared for the annual meet up of the ally packs."

"Yes alpha," I said, bowing my head in automatic submission to her aura.

Alpha Faye looked around the room with poison glared gaze before taking her exit.

I immediately let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

'Kira, that was fucking scary,' my wolf, Mel called, 'sometimes I just want to tear at her and pull her down.'

I rolled my eyes at her, 'she's the alpha, there's nothing you could do even if you wanted to.'

"She seems a lot more pissed off than she usually is," one of the omegas, called to me.

"Does she? She's like that everyday." I scoffed.

My parents used to be friends with the alpha before they died in the pack war that took many of our families. The alpha cared for the omegas, not caring for their ranks but the minute he sacrificed his life to save the omega house from burning, we have been treated like slaves. We would be lucky if we got meals for the day.

I got to my feet, I was hungry, and I couldn't do anything to mess up, anything that would cause my food to not be given to me.

I was going to renew my cleaning water when the head omega walked in.

We all groaned knowing it was time for the task we all hated.

"Alright! Who am I going to call on? Who's going to serve the alpha's meal today?"

We all stayed in silence.

"Kira, my mind's wavering towards you today."

I shut my eyes tight, could this day get any worse? It possibly couldn't.

"Yes head omega," I nodded in agreement and went to do just as ordered. I got to the pack kitchen and one of the cooks handed me the tray that consisted of the alpha's dinner.

'you have got this, all we have to do is get the plate safely to her, she will complain but we will stomach it.' Mel told me. She was right.

With calculated steps, I made my way to the alpha's room. It was in the biggest hallway of the pack house where most higher ups stayed, I hated to be there.

There were taunting remarks from lingering pack members but I was used to it.

I finally got to the alpha's room, knocked on her door and it opened slightly. I walk in carefully. I found Kaden, Alpha's mate sitting in bed, his upper half naked and his lower half under the sheets. I immediately bowed my head and turned my back to him, "I'm so sorry, my lord, I wanted to bring alpha's food in."

"Drop it on the table there." He said in his deep voice. I'd always done my best to avoid him as they recently only found each other.

I placed it on the table and still keeping my back to him, I turned to take my leave.

"Why are you in such a hurry?" He said out of nowhere.

"I ha... I have to get back to the omega's quarters, my lord."

"Look at me when I'm talking to you!" He suddenly raised his voice.

With shaky hands, I lifted my head and met his gaze, a smirk sat on his face. He ran his fingers through his hair and waved his index and middle finger at me, motioning for me to come closer.

I reluctantly took steps towards the bed, "yes my lord? Do you... Do you need anything?"

"Closer." He said in a dominant voice, my heart was racing in fear as beads of sweat began to form on my forehead.

Once I was close enough, he grabbed my arm and attempted to pull me onto the bed, I immediately repelled from the motion.

"My lord, let me go please, what are you doing?!"

"I've been watching you," he told me, "you're the prettiest omega I've seen, that beauty does not deserve to go to waste, let me treat you well."

"My lord, please!" Tears began to stream down my face. He managed to yank me down, getting me on his bed.

The blankets fell off, revealing that he was fully naked. He ripped the upper part of my gown and I let out a scream, throwing my hands up to shield my body from him.

He put his strong hand over my mouth and slapped me hard across the face, "make one more sound and I'll kill you."

Mel wanted to take over and protect us but his grip over my mouth was choking me, distracting me from shifting.

I struggled to push him off me but he was too powerful. I managed to bite his hand, getting him to repel, giving me the chance to stand to my feet.

"Fucking omega, have you lost your mind?!" He said, reaching for my arm again.

The door swung open and we both turned our heads to find Alpha Faye standing there in shock.

"What is happening?!" She widened her eyes at the situation.

Kaden let go of me immediately, "she fucking came in here to bring your meal. I was in bed waiting for you, only for her to come up to me, trying to force me to bed her."

'No way, I'm going to kill this man...' Mel growled, immediately taking control over me. Before we could shift, a stinging pain greeted my back.

I looked up to see Alpha Faye with a horse whip in her hand. She raised her hand to strike me again but I dodged it, running to a corner of the room.

"Alpha please, I didn't do it, I swear on the moon!" I cried out, wailing from the fear of what could happen to me. This was it, this was how I met my death.

Alpha Faye dropped the whip and took a chokehold on my neck, pinning me beside her dressing drawer.

"After everything I've done for you fucking ingrates!"

I could feel the air leaving my lungs, my eyes started to roll to the back while I struggled for freedom from her grip.

Without thinking I grabbed the first thing my hand could pick on her dresser and it was a needle. I stabbed it into her arm, causing her to let go of me. She let out a growl as she fell to the floor.

As I slowly backed away, it dawned on me that I just injected wolfsbane into the alpha. That meant two things, I was going to be hung on display to teach other wolves what could happen to them, or I had a little time to run before I was hung on display. Either way, I was dying today.

I took staggering steps back as Kaden crouched to examine her.

The moment her eyes, now glowing a bright red met mine, I picked my pace, sprinting out the door, ignoring her guards confused looks.

She would be weak only for a moment. I didn't care about the pain on my back, or the freezing cold from the winter or that I was partly naked thanks to my clothes being ripped off, I ran barefoot through the snow, into the woods.

I paused for a second, looking behind me to see that I still had a head start.

'no don't do it!' Mel said, knowing exactly what I was about to do.

'I have to!'

"I, Kira Malcolm, unbind myself from the Coven pack, I choose to live as a rogue.'

I resumed running, tears streaming down my face.

Most wolves would rather die than live as rogues, it was almost a disease to us. It was the weakest form, the worst punishment. But if I stayed bound to my pack, Alpha Faye would always track me down, I could only run, I'd never be able to hide.

My body could no longer bear the torture, I was weak from hunger, and the pain was weighing me down.

'We are really going to die out here.' Mel said.

I didn't have the strength to keep going. I had no idea when the world blacked out.

I woke up in pain, my body aching, frozen and scarred.

I could hear Voices all around me. My heart dropped, I'd been found by alpha Faye. I was doomed.

"It's a rogue," I heard a male voice report, poking my sides with what seemed like the sharp edge of a wood.

My head was fogged, empty and I was too weak to communicate with Mel. So I lay still.

"Get up." I heard a deep voice order.

I couldn't but I didn't want them to hurt me. So with my last strength, I pulled myself to my feet, only to lose my balance and fall onto the man that had been standing directly above me. I heard the collective gasps of shock around me but I couldn't see what they were reacting to.

Before I blacked out, I caught a whiff of his scent and realized, under my breathe, I managed to mumble, "mate..."
