A River In Darkness Novels & Stories

The last thing I saw before that darkness took over me was River, still attached to the ground but alive, his silver fur catching the faint shimmer of the moonlight. And then... nothing. Darkness swallowed me whole.

Then: "Show me where the sixth point is." --- The river at night is a different thing from the river at any other hour. It is wider somehow. Darker in a way that is not only the absence of light but the presence of depth — the particular darkness of water that goes further down than it appears to. I have always loved this about the river. The way it does not pretend to be shallow. We walk the bank until I feel it. Not the suppressed hum of the silenced arch behind us. Something older. Something that has been here since before the city, before the buildings, before the cartographer made the map that couldn't mark it because it doesn't exist at the surface.

Beyond it was a river. Serra dashed towards it, passing through the rocky trail. She dropped the oil canister, torch and the match on the river bank and head down into the water. The river was the complete opposite of the one they have in Sirka village. It was wide and huge, and the water was angry and loud. The water was clear and clean.

"Power is fleeting. Creation is forever." Lesi said.

The darkness is nothing more than a test that God gives us, many times to overcome things and learn from it, but in the end we all carry that darkness in our hearts, we just have to decide whether to expel it or let it dwell within you. Charlotte is a girl who has been in the dark since she was born, her parents were shitty to her, she was beaten and mistreated unjustifiably simply because her parents wanted it that way, but to understand a little of this story we must return to the past.
