Asher felt it rather than saw, from the distance of a still forming mate bond, his mate’s distress. He looked up, and that was when he saw the man that had introduced himself as Ajax with his mate. He’d knocked Kihara out and now she lay cold and unconscious in his arms. A growl tore through the air and earth. Asher’s eyes shivered with emotion, fear and anger. Ajax looked over his shoulders at him, and for once, that unsmiling, unfeeling face dissolved with a smile.
