She stepped forward, gaze locked on the two women slipping deeper into the dim streets.
Lucian’s voice followed. “What is it?”
“They’re going somewhere they don’t want Xavier to notice,” Veronica murmured. “And I want to know where.”
The liaison tracked her gaze. “Those two? The hunters.”
Interesting.
“Follow them,” Veronica ordered.
They pushed through the crowd, weaving between dancing wolves, vendors, the swell of music, strings of lanterns swaying overhead. For a heartbeat, Veronica was sure Sophie’s gaze brushed over them, sharp, searching, but then a group of elders moved between them, blocking the line of sight.
