Layla added, playing with a few strands of her hair, twirling them in her finger. Lucian didn’t say another word after a while which made her think he had left. Layla got up from the bed and sauntered to the window. The bright moon was silently watching over everything from above, like a mighty deity doing its responsibility to guide the lost souls to the right path amid the night. Its beauty was always fascinating in Layla’s eyes. She smiled, peering at the almost perfectly round moon in the night sky. “The full moon is coming,” she whispered, still tilting her head up to appreciate the beautiful scenery of the night despite the growing worry in her heart.

Lyra’s fingers tightened in Ares’s shirt. “What does she mean…” she whispered. Ares didn’t look away from the priestess. “It means she is lying.” Lunara chuckled softly, the sound like glass chiming. “So much defiance,” she murmured. “Still pretending you can outrun the Moon.” She lifted one hand. The sky responded. Clouds parted in a perfect circle overhead, revealing a full moon so bright it turned the courtyard silver. Lyra cried out softly as heat bloomed in her chest.
