Calla nodded, understanding flickering in her eyes. As I watched her leave with her family, I felt the weight of prophecy and history pressing down on us all. Looking at the Chronicle still lying on the table, its ancient leather binding seeming to pulse with contained power, I couldn't help but wonder if we were already too late.
