" The air felt heavy back in the Brooks residence's living room. Willow watched the screen. The hatred in his eyes wavered for the first time. Cameron said nothing, only turning his gaze toward Maria. Maria sat there, staring at Richard's face on the television. It was a face filled with pain and regret. At some point, her vision had blurred as hot tears rolled down from the corners of her eyes and ran down her pale cheeks, drop by drop, landing on the back of the hand she had clenched tight. This was the truth she had waited too long for.

How she missed this exact feeling that rose within her as they reached for the stars. She fucking missed him. This. Everything. She missed him so much that once the explosion tore through her that only heartbreak and loneliness flooded her. She couldn't keep the tears from blurring her vision. "Persephone?" he whispered her name, kissing her temple. She swallowed. "Pretend I'm not..." "In tears?" he finished for her. She sighed. "Do you have regrets?" "Many," she whispered, fighting through her tears. "But you were never one of them."

Something hot. Tears.

A tear slipped from his eye without resistance. Wiping his tears, he said in a hoarse voice: “Naomi… you are the most precious thing I’ve ever lost. Where are you now, Naomi? You were right when you left me and walked away.” He drew a deep breath, as though regret were tightening around his chest: “I regret… I regret every wrong decision I made in my life. I regret forcing myself to live with a woman who gives me nothing of love but its misery.” The crying returned, harsher now, as he stared at the floor: “I’ll go on living, mourning your loss, Naomi.”

No matter how much she despised them, she had never wanted this for him. He wiped a tear away with his thumb. “Don’t you dare shed a tear for them or for me. They aren’t worth your tears. I don’t regret what I’ve done. I only regret that I allowed them to hurt you and that I never saw what they were doing to you.”

Chapter Two Ava’s POV The house was eerily quiet, except for the soft rustling of my hands as I packed away the last remnants of my past. I stood in Lily’s bedroom, my fingers tracing over the framed picture of my little girl. Her bright smile was frozen in time, her eyes full of the happiness she had always carried. My chest ached, but I couldn’t cry anymore—there were no tears left. No more pain to wipe on. Slowly, I removed the picture from the wall, placing it gently inside the bag I had set aside. The bag was meant for burning. I didn't want to see anymore of it that will bring pain towards me.

“ I can't, unfortunately. There is a gala dinner I must attend. It must have slipped my mind. Thankfully my secretary reminded me.” I couldn't argue so I nodded my head and gave in. It is for the best. I don't think I can hold myself together in his presence. I need to be alone. “ Okay. Please come back soon.” I kissed him on the cheek and made my way back to my room. I closed the door behind me and finally stopped holding it in. I slid down the door and crouched, letting my tears fall freely. I couldn't stop crying just thinking about everything. I am scared. I want to keep my baby, no matter what but that could lead me to lose Marcus. I love him too much to let him go. I don't know what to

"Don't cry sis. It is alright." She was emotionally overwhelmed and the tears she shaded were no longer tears of agony. The tears on her face had not been drawn from the pains and suffering from her past life. Those were tears of joy. The hope she had lost and the dreams that had seemed passed-by like mysterious wind had finally zoomed back. Finally had begun to see light at the end of the tunnel. Her son in his own volition had come looking for her. She composed herself and wiped her eyes dry. "I have been granted the miracle of having my child again. I am so thrilled you found the time to come and see me," she said.

Shit! My eyes collided back with Alina's to find tears glistening in them. And the sight was enough to make me feel like the ground was snatched from beneath my feet. I couldn't control my emotions, the fear of losing her blinded me so fucking much, it made me pull up a stupid stunt like this. To say I regretted it would be an understatement.
