This isn't a love story, but almost a love story. Irina and Eric share a world through dreams and time travel. They have a strong mutual understanding about the feelings they have for each other, at the same time understanding that they cannot be together. Eric: I stand alone in the rain looking at the dark sky where all I can see is water, for it is both the rain and my tears flowing to my face. Irina: And suddenly it is no longer my reflection I see inside the mirror. What I see now is a figure of a man. I draw closer to see him clearly. But the closer I walk towards him, the farther I become from him. I couldn't get close.

It was the six hundredth year since humans started to leave Earth to colonize other planets. Gradual was one of the planets they had colonized and during the most time they were there, they believed they were alone. But in the fourth year of human existence on Gradual, they were attacked by raven beasts, winged creatures born by the planet itself. Immune to all energy weapons of humans. The fight with the raven beasts cost humanity over a billion lives before they finally got victory. Such an expensive victory made the humans bitter, and they directed their wrath to one of the civilizations they had signed a peace treaty with, the AIs, the planet was shared by humans and Gradual but when the war came, the Graduals stayed out of it. Humans protested at all AI bases in Gradual but the AIs remained silent about the whole issue and over time their relationship began to show strains.

Due to the negligence and ambition of the government, a virus has spread. It causes people with viruses to eat and bite people without viruses, contaminating them. With the help of William's sister, will he be able to discover the cure that lies within the dark? Will he be able to sue those who are guilty? Or will he be able to feel the love that he's been trying to suppress in the midst of the chaos? Will William die or will he survive and find the cure?

The novel is mainly about the forgotten British poet/writer named C. J Richards who lived in Burma/Myanmar in colonial times and he believed himself as a Burmophile. He served as I.C.S (Indian Civil Servant) and when he retired from I.C.S service, he was a D.C (District Commissioner) and he left for England a year before Burma gained its independence in 1948. He came to Burma in 1920 to work in civil service after passing the hardest I.C.S examination. He wrote several books on Burma and contributed many monthly articles to Guardian Magazine published in Burma from 1953 to 1974 or 1975. Though he wrote several books which had much literary merit to both communities, Britain and Burma (Myanmar), people failed to recognize him. The story has two parts: one part is set in the contemporary Yangon (then called Rangoon) in 2016 context and a young literary enthusiast named “Lin” found out unexpectedly the forgotten writer’s poetry book and there is surely a good deal of time gap that led him into a quest to know more about the author’s life. The setting is quite different comparing to colonial Burma and independence Myanmar (Burma), early twentieth century and 2016 which is a transitional period in Myanmar. The writer’s life is fictionalized in the novel and most of the facts are taken from his personal stories and other reference books. It is a kind of historical novel with a twist and it has comparatively constructed the two different periods in Myanmar history to convince readers, locally and abroad more about history, authorship, humanity, colonialism, and transitional development in Myanmar today.
