I threw them in a heap on the ground and pushed my bulk into the back of Roger’s five-foot, eight, slender body as best I could.
“This is how Marc and I escaped the last time. They can’t see well in this lighting. My scent on my clothes should throw them off long enough for us to get to the cabin,” I whispered, remembering that they may look like a beast, but they were a very crafty, intelligent being.
“I can’t throw you over my shoulder on my best day. I sure as hell can’t do it in your condition,” Roger protested.
“Shut up and run. Just keep hold of my hand and, no matter what, drag me along if you have to. Don’t slow down,” I said with urgency.
