Its eyes were no longer as self assured. They darted to the left and the right, searching desperately for a way out. It was trying to avoid me, but I would not let it get away. I did not hesitate. With one swift motion, I raised my arm and felt the weight of the sacred steel in my grip. The blade cleaved through the creature with a powerful swing, cutting it in half. The impact sent a wave of heat through the air, and smoldering remnants lingered in the space where the blade had struck.

“R-Rissa... my Queen... Please, just let me see Dad. One last time. Please. He’s all I have left.” I tilted my head slightly. “He doesn’t want to see you.” She choked, whether in tears or rage, I couldn’t tell. A blade materialized in my hand, summoned from my magic. Sleek. Silver. Sharp enough to slice through bone and spell alike. I didn’t hesitate. The blade cut across her throat in one clean motion. Her eyes went wide with shock and disbelief. She struggled against the chains, hands clawing at the wound uselessly as thick red blood spilled from her neck.

Maybe the evidence and the lies and the blood all blur and the Pack bends back into the shape I want. ‎ ‎‎The guards shout and rush forward, but too late, I’m already charging. Every muscle burns, every heartbeat screams now or never. ‎The blade leaves my grip, a flash in the light. It spins. Time screams. I see the metal glint as it flies, the whole world decreasing to that silver point. Men shout, chairs topple. My lungs fill with sound and I do not know which one is my own. ‎ ‎The blade arcs toward her chest. Everybody's breath freezes. I don’t hear anything but the rushing in my ears. Die Elara, you better die this time around.

She knew Draven would try to hinder her journey, so she was ready for it. As the first wave of birds dived toward her, she swiftly drew her blade and struck with precision. The silver gleamed as it sliced through the air, meeting its mark with deadly accuracy. Each strike was fluid and controlled, her movements were a practiced dance of survival. The enchanted blade cut through the dark magic infusing the birds, causing them to burst into clouds of black smoke as they perished.

I slice with warning at that one as well. The third growls at me. The circle they are making around me has been growing smaller. Soon they will all be upon me. “You want me?!” I shout at them, adrenaline and blind dumb courage pushing me forward. “Then come taste my blade!” Another darts toward me. I swing at it, forcing that one back. But a second uses this opening to its advantage and swings at me. I lurch forward at the last moment, but the tips of its claws scrape across my back, tearing through my tunic and a layer of skin underneath.

To think that it was in this moment that Mane had finally succeeded. “Enlightenment from my sword and your blade, merged with his experiences and pain so far. Supreme Sword Series huh.” Sword God muttered silently within Mane’s mindscape. “He calls this move the First Chapter. I cannot wait for him to develop the others.” 2nd excitedly giggled. “Can you feel the emotion in that blade?” 1st asked. “We can” all the masters answered in unison. “These emotions…”1st started but hesitated to finish, for he was unsure of his hypothesis; however, Cronos confirmed his thoughts in the next statement.

"I won't let go." Rhydian smiled through the blood on his lips. "You never have to." The Twin Blades merged into one brilliant white sword. Its light pierced the heavens. The King of the Void looked at the weapon. For the first time... It took a single step backward. "You forged..." Its voice carried something unfamiliar. "...the Blade of Beginning." The Creator smiled. "No. They did." The white blade released a pulse of light that spread across the collapsing world. Dead trees bloomed. Broken stone became green with life. The frightened Gatekeepers felt hope returning to their hearts. Even the widening crack in the sky stopped growing.

The rogue had made his choice, and now he would have to face the consequences. As I approached him with the blade, I could feel my heart racing with excitement. The blade was sharp enough to slice through flesh and bone with ease, and I knew that the rogue would feel every inch of it. I ran the blade over his skin, watching as beads of blood formed in its wake. He tried to pull away, but the chains held him fast. I pressed the blade harder against his flesh, drawing a deep, ragged breath from him. The room was filled with the sounds of his screams and the crackling of the flames. I moved the blade to another spot, relishing in the feeling of control and power that coursed through me.

“It has to be silver!” “Noted,” Zero bit out, firing again. This time, the creature flinched, a sizzling sound erupting from the wound. “Seems they don’t like it up close either!” He was already moving, a blur of motion as he drew a blade from his vest—a blade I now saw was etched with faint, glowing runes. The world erupted into chaos.

Although it wasn't that serious, I still received a wound while I was fighting against my opponents. In the place where I couldn't see, the hilt of my sword created a red beam along with the blood splattered. END OF CHAPTER 41
