Vera Stanhope Books Novels & Stories

Leila walked between the aisles, surrounded by old copper kettles, once fine German porcelain, toy trains, and oak plant stands trying hard not to look bored. One stall caught her eye—a pile of books, mostly battered children’s tales and lonely volumes of the classics not worth much without the rest of the lot. Some books looked interesting, bound in old tooled leather. Then something caught her eye. She spotted a volume in the middle of all that artful chaos. It was a thick, faded book with a tan leather binding. The title, The History and Artifacts of the Ancient Germanic Tribes, was elegantly crafted in gold letters. Leila’s pulse quickened. She was looking for this volume in the library

Lady Calantha's eyes seemed to bore into my soul, and I knew that I had to be careful. "So, Vera," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "I hear you've been asking questions about me. What do you want to know?" I took a deep breath and launched into my accusations, presenting the evidence I had gathered. Lady Calantha listened calmly, her expression unreadable. But as I finished speaking, I saw a flicker of anger in her eyes. And I knew that I had to be prepared for anything. "You're a foolish girl, Vera," Lady Calantha spat, her voice was venomous. "You think you can take me down? I'll crush you like the insignificant insect that you are."

She had gone through the memories of the book enough to understand the desperation, the stupid plan, the sister who should have been in that room instead of her, and the trap that had turned into something much bigger than anyone expected. The original Vera had been scared, cornered, jealous, hungry for a way out, and stupid enough to believe one dangerous plan could give her a future. Vera understood desperation. She had lived beside it long enough to know how easily it could make a person reach for the wrong door. But understanding did not mean she planned to confess anything.

I've poured my soul into AGG and am so thankful for my readers who loved Vera despite her faults, and drooled over Dane. This book will have scheduled updates until the completion of book 1. Alpha's Good Girl will then go on Hiatus until I am ready to begin updates for book 2. I'm planning to focus on Alpha's Good Girl Book 2 after the completion of Alpha Shane and The Alpha's Mistress. These books take a lot out of me, but I'm doing my best to get them completed. I get a bit attached to the characters and the story, so I tend to slow down toward the end because I'm just NOT ready for it to come to a close.

Vera certainly has a death wish, and if she hurts even a string of hair on Rowan's hair then I would rip her apart without a second thought, her and that mother or hers think they can do whatever they want don't they? I kicked the table again as I opened the next page of the book, the heading was written boldly in red ink "IMPERSONATION" I read out furrowing my brows, if I read it maybe I can find out how that man impersonated the rogue king and almost deceived me. Just when I started reading the page I remembered something, my bold went cold as I remembered, I left Vera in the east wing crying, Vera can never be as fast as I am so how did she reach the west Wing and the class before I did?

“You know I hate lateness. Or were you hoping to warn your houseguests I was coming?” “I doubt they frighten easily.” Vera turned back to Anya, smile poised but empty. “And this must be… the addition.” Anya extended a hand. “Anya Petrova.” Vera didn’t shake it. Instead, she looked down at Zoe. “And the heiress to the second complication, I presume.” Zoe blinked. “I don’t know what that means.” Vera crouched slightly, maintaining perfect posture even in motion. “It means you’re a very… surprising little girl.”

Author's POV "Veronica?" Sayesha called but Vera was lost in her world. She was thinking about something else, completely forgetting that her hot coffee is slowly getting cold. Sayesha sighed scrunching her nose and knowing that Vera wasn't listening to her. "Vera!" She scolded and Vera flinched. "What's wrong with you, woman!?" "I am so sorry..." Vera shook her head and took a sip of her coffee. "I was just zoned out."

He was sitting not too far from her usual place. Vera stood up quickly. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I didn’t know you were here. I will leave and let you have the whole place.” Henry looked at her and shook his head. “Sit down. This place doesn’t belong to me. You can stay here.” Vera felt surprised again. He was being nice once more. She sat down a little distance from him. “Thank you for allowing me to stay.” She went back to her book. She was still looking at the subjects and having a bit of problem with some parts. Even though she was a natural genius, some things were still hard. She kept reading the same line again and again.

She could feel the tendrils of their link, but once again, she was pulled back to the scene with the beast. The woman was there, and this time Vera wasn’t shaken. If anything, having seen what she had, and having had her conversation with Calypso, she was feeling bold. She felt Antoinette’s presence, but the woman did nothing to stop her from walking towards the beast and the mystery woman. “Yahaira,” Vera called out. The beast stopped growling, looking down at the woman, and she slowly turned to face Vera. “Who calls my name so boldly?”

He assured her, cuddling her close to him. She thanked the stars that she had run into Rhys that day, or she would have been crushed by the weight of this burden before her. Hesitantly, she opened the door to the house, in half hopes and expecting nothing. Veronica sat in the sitting room, reading a book absentmindedly. One will easily know that her eyes were on the book, but not her mind. Her eyes darted around the pages, nothing sinking into her head. When she heard the creaking of the door, she looked up, her eyes lighting up when she spotted Sophie and her partner.
