Thursday evening was the lobster boil on the beach. Normally, Bree would be excited to attend, but under the circumstances, she didn’t want to go. Sure, it might be fun to eat lobster and corn on the cob, amongst other things, beneath the moon and stars and listen to the waves lap against the shore. But Hank’s words had played over and over again in her mind all day, so by the time she was supposed to be heading to the beach, she was sitting on the couch in her room instead, staring out the window at the descending sun, wondering what she should do.

The cold water seemed to do more harm than good to her already tensed body but she carried on with her bathing instead. Rushing into her room she picked out a bikini; thank goodness she'd always remembered to carry that about whenever she went on a trip and now they'd proved useful. Wearing a pink robe on it and heading out of the house she breathed a sigh of relief when the hot sun touched her skin and the morning breeze wisped her hair sideways. She'd begun to feel claustrophobic being inside for too long, the smell of the beach helped unloosen her tensed nerve and without a second thought she chucked off the robe and dived into the water.

"Oh, don't worry dear. It will be fine. It's so hot out, I was just trying to be friendly." She reluctantly changed into her bikini at my urging but put a beach cover-up over it before we took Rob out to the pool with a couple of more beers. I was the first one in the pool and told them how refreshing it felt. Rob then stood up and took off his shirt revealing a nicely chiseled body. He had muscular shoulders and arms, a broad chest and six pack abs. Heck, even I thought he was gorgeous. He then slipped off his shorts, leaving only his navy boxer/jocks on which clung tightly to his muscular ass. He could have been a model. He quickly dove into the pool.

His apartment was close to Alameda beach. Rob moved to the balcony, taking a sit on the floor, elbows on his knees, head lowered, like he was grieving the future death of his mother. Slowly I approached him. I thought he was going to go straight to the bar and drown himself in alcohol but he just sat, his body facing the fresh breeze of the beach. “Do you want to be alone? I can just go outside and stay by the water.” I say softly “No” he responded “Should I turn you a glass of brandy?”
