I froze, my mind racing for an explanation, an excuse…anything that could undo what had just happened. My heart started to beat so loudly and fast, it drowned out the silence in the room. Her hand moved toward the nearest photo, and I watched in horror as she picked it up.

He scrambled to retrieve the phone, his breath hitching as he tried messaging me instead, but only exclamation marks flashed on the screen. Panic clawed at his chest. He tore downstairs and sped home, but the empty house greeted him like a tomb. I had been long gone, and my beloved specimens had vanished from the shelves, too. The relentless ticking of the clock was the only sound, a cruel reminder that this wasn't some nightmare he could wake from. His mind went blank, grasping for anything to hold onto. Then he remembered the invitation I had thrown at him, one that he had dismissed as a childish jab.

After brushing off the dust and cobwebs, I opened it to find potions, magics, and spells of all kinds. “But how do I know which is the right one?” I wondered aloud. A brief silence followed. Then, a noise came from the back. My heart skipped. Moving closer to investigate, I spotted a small, aged book on the floor. Picking it up, I skimmed the first few pages. The book focused mainly on werewolves. Opening it further, my eyes widened—there, written boldly on the middle page, were potions, spells, and a cure for werewolf illness.

Quickly I ran back to my bedroom hoping that the spell was still working. Footsteps came back into the hall and I heard my grandmother’s door being opened and then shut and then the footsteps continued to my room and stopped. The door pushed open and Christopher stood in my doorway looking into my room. I didn’t move a muscle as he scanned my room hoping he wasn’t onto us but he continued on to my mother’s old bedroom. I tiptoed to the door and looked into the hall and saw Christopher struggling to open my mother’s bedroom door. The door hadn’t been open since the day I came here to live with my grandmother. I walked deeper and deeper till the other end of the library, I gazed up at a wierd looking book on a shelf in the midst of other books, it had a wine book cover but didn't actually seem removable. I grabbed onto the book but it didn't budge, and when I tried harder my fingers ended up sinking into it and I retreated my hand. Just then I realized something, I watched in bewilderment as the shelf suddenly parted, revealing a metal black door. And with that thought, my eyes fixated on the book, it had golden covers and was so big and heavy, I had to carry it with both my hands. Another thing I need to do is find a place to hide it; I need to find a way out so that no one can see or sense it. I looked around the room once more and saw a box beneath the bed. I quickly picked it up, put my hand on it, and said some spells, and it opened in a matter of seconds, allowing me to put the book inside. Since magic could do anything, I repeated some spells, and the box closed on its own, and I slid it under the bed. I will soon take it to my own chamber in the morning.
