"I just got home, and you're already eating?" I paused, spoon halfway to my mouth, and looked up at her, confused. With an impatient huff, Joyce shrugged off her coat. "Stop eating and wash the clothes in my suitcase first. The power at Fin's house got knocked out by the typhoon yesterday. I didn't even get to shower." With that, she walked toward the bathroom. "I'm busy. Just toss them in the washing machine," I said evenly.

The movement stops. That's what wakes me. Not a voice. Not a hand. The absence of motion. For a second, I don't open my eyes. Five years teaches you that waking up slowly is safer than waking up fast. I listen to the muted voices outside. The low, restless rumble of the ironclads. And something else. Distant. Way louder than it should be. Like the air itself is... alive. I open my eyes. The inside of the transport is dim, shadows stretching across the reinforced walls. My neck aches slightly from where I'd leaned against the side, but I ignore it as I sit up straighter.

By the time we reached the temple’s inner sanctum, a full-blown tempest had descended upon the town. Back in Silverwood Falls, the storm hit with brutal force. Gale-force winds tore through the streets, uprooting trees and ripping roofs from houses. Torrential rain turned the ground to mud, and lightning crackled across the sky, casting eerie, flickering light over the chaos. The storm was more than just a natural disaster; it was a supernatural onslaught, a manifestation of the dark omens we had feared.

In one fast motion, I spun him around and slammed him against the wall this time, my forearm pressing hard against his throat. I grabbed his wrists and pinned them above his head. His chest rose and fell in ragged bursts. “Let go,” he growled, glaring at me. “Make me.” “You’re such a fucking bastard.” “And you,” I leaned in, my lips grazing the line of his jaw, “are just a whiny little bitch.” “Fuck you, Storm.” I smirked.“You wish.” We stood locked in place. Ice grey eyes clashing with stormy blue. Ragged breaths and sweaty palms. The air between us pulsed with heat and something far more dangerous.

Storm Without saying a word, he walked towards me, watching me carefully as he slowly made his way towards me. I watched him warily, wanting to run for my life but determined to stand my ground. The look in his eyes told me he was aware of my internal battle. He walked up to me and took me into his arms, holding me against him. I stood there frozen in his arms, my body shaking from cold and fear. After a while I rested my head on his chest, seeking the warmth of his embrace and finding an odd sense of comfort in the sound of his heartbeat. After a moment of debating with myself on whether I should reciprocate. I wrapped my arms around him holding him. A foreign feeling of safety and security

Lira (POV) The storm has a voice—not a scream or a howl, but a low, steady gnashing that grinds against the cabin walls like teeth on bone. Wind worms through every crack in the timber, hissing secrets I’m too tired to translate. Inside, the air is thick and sharp, soaked with the scent of pine sap, old ash, and sweat—the kind that comes from restraint, not exhaustion.

Iris clutched her chest, feeling the faintest echo of Damon’s energy lingering deep within her soul. “Damon…” she whispered. “You’re still with me, aren’t you?” The moon above seemed to glow brighter in response. The Rising Storm As the pack gathered for the night, a tremor ran through the earth. Wolves raised their heads, ears twitching as the ground vibrated beneath their paws. From the distant horizon, black storm clouds began to churn, glowing with streaks of red lightning. Selene’s voice trembled as she spoke. “The Shadow Army… they’re coming.”

Storm held up his hand, with the signal for us all to freeze and listen. We stood there in silence, our ears perked up, trying to pinpoint what was off. The forest was quiet, the only sound being the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze. But then, I heard it - a faint humming noise, like the distant rumble of thunder. Storm's eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the concern etched on his face. Ryker and Blaze exchanged a wary glance, their hands instinctively going to the knives sheathed at their belts. Rain's eyes narrowed his senses on high alert.

This is the second in the insanity Series dealing with the Watson's and the two characters of Max and Deanna. The third will be released in November of 2020. The name of it is Breaking the eye wall. It continues shortly after where Weathering the storm leaves off. A tie in series will be released in December called "The nightmare begins." This story though fictionalized did happen in the US in late 2019. The charaters will be along or the journey in Breaking the eye wall but they will have their own series called "Nightmare". This is the first book in that series.

Just like the previous times, coming back to reality was like plummeting from some great height into the depth of stormy seas. The surface swallowed her up like the mouth of a giant fish, sucking her down into the maelstrom of freezing cold darkness. It rolled her like a washing machine until she couldn't tell up from down or dark from light. But just as quickly as she had plummeted into that strange void between reality she knew and the reality she had come from, Chloe felt herself being pulled out of the depths.
