“You look miserable.” Jeremy clenched his jaw, his fists tightening at his sides as pure hatred burned in his eyes. “What?” Ivy let out a wicked laugh. “Nothing to say? Because I just told you the truth?” Jeremy nodded slowly, his gaze locked on her, unreadable. “Well, here’s my truth.” He exhaled sharply. “I want a divorce.” Ivy’s breath caught in her throat. Her brows furrowed as disbelief settled in. “Look who’s speechless now,” Jeremy taunted, smirking as he slid into his car and started the engine.

“You can’t go back to New York, Giselle. If you want me to talk with my mother, I’ll do that, but you’re not leaving. Not yet. We still need to get our family together and—” “Noah,” I groaned, drinking the juice again. “You just don’t get it, do you? Sign the divorce papers, and let’s get this over and done with. Connor and I will return to New York, and that’s final.” He stood up from his chair and growled. “Are you dating Connor?” I was confused about his outburst because it had nothing to do with him if I was seeing Connor. He was married to my foster sister and expecting their first child together!

Propping myself up from the floor, I whispered, “Patricia…” I do not know why both corner of my eyes suddenly became hot. Seeing her familiar face. Her familiar warmth. The warmth I crave for a long time. A sob escaped my lips. "Patricia, he wanted to divorce me. What should I do? I don’t know what to do anymore, nothing seems to work. Help me, please? I already signed it, so you can just add your signature.” I pulled the divorce agreement out of my bag and set it on his desk. “I’ll drop it off at court afterward.” “You’re going back to him.” I let out a breath, one that carried everything I didn’t want to say. There was no point denying it. He already knew. “After everything he did?” His tone was quiet, too controlled. “There’s nothing he did that we can’t talk about,” I said, steady but soft. “We can start therapy again, see a counselor... whatever it takes. I just…” I paused, feeling my throat tighten. “I want to be his wife again. And Hope loves her dad.”

Camilla's breathing quickened, her chest heaving with each breath. "I gave you a chance, Jeremy. You're the one who threw it away!" She shot to her feet, tossed Jeremy's phone onto the coffee table, and stormed back to the master bedroom. The moment she lay down, her eyes instinctively drifted toward the nightstand, where a divorce agreement had been left ages ago. Following the major fight that snowballed into a cold war between them, Jeremy left a divorce agreement on the nightstand and moved out of the master bedroom. The two had been sleeping separately since then.

Cassandra pursed her lips. "What has that got to do with my family? It's all your daughter's fault for being promiscuous and fooling around with Tyler!" Harold looked like he had rushed over, as he hadn't brought any luggage. "Honey, I went to your company, and HR said you quit. Then I went to Yvette's school, and her teacher said she transferred. You two—" I cut him off. "Mr. Jefferson, first of all, I'm not your wife anymore, so stop calling me 'honey.' We both signed the divorce papers, and the mandatory waiting period ends in two days.
