I gulp the water all down making me let out a breath. Water is life! I pick up my chicken wing and was about biting on it when the entrance door opened suddenly and aggressively. I froze. Sky squealed out of fear as he rushed towards me. I carry him close to my chest. We are both scared to death. What was that? I held Sky closer as I slowly stand on my feet. My heart is beating so very fast. "Hu... Hunter?" No response. My heart pace increased. I looked at Sky, he is scared too.

Skyr then reached out to grab one of my hands on the table and gave it a reassuring squeeze. I could feel butterflies doing summersaults at the pit of my stomach at the gesture that I had to fight to urge to pull my hand away. “It’s...It’s just…” I turned to look at Skyr, feeling vulnerable as I admitted my nightmares, “I’m scared that everyone would die if I fail. I keep having these dreams about Silisk killing...you guys. And now I keep having these thoughts that Silisk might not be the one to…” I trailed off as I could no longer bring myself to finish the sentence.

I raised an eyebrow throwing my head back to laugh. I liked my reputation in school for one thing. No one judged me for anything and the normal gossiping only happens between Kris's circle which I'm sure Sky is part of but that's really not my business if I'm being honest with myself.

No way was I leaving her alone like this. Her walls clenched around my fingers. I hastened my thrust, watching her breathe faster, lips pressed together and her hand slipping from the scarf. From the corner of my eye, I spotted Jace lurking around. Our eyes met, his lips pulling into a frown as his eyes moved between me and Sky. He gave me a cold look before turning on his heel. That bastard. As if possessed by a ghost, Sky turned around, pushing me off. “What the fuck is wrong with you?” she demanded, flicking her hair over her shoulder.

“Take your pants off and hop on.” I slide my jeans off, climb onto the bed, and lie down. “So what are you gonna brand me with?” Jackson wags his eyebrows and smirks, a teasing gleam in his eyes. “Property of Jackson, obviously.” I burst out laughing, shaking my head, and then I glance at the somber expression in his eyes and freeze. “You’re joking, right?” His hand flies to his heart, and he juts out his bottom lip and pouts. “I thought you trusted me?”

Giving her a small smile, I lifted up her hand that was locked in mine and kissed the top of it. “I promised you I would wait, and I will. But if this happens again, know that I will hold you just like I did. I will pull you close and try to take some of that darkness away so you will have a better chance at fighting it. But I could never kill you.” “I…” Sky was fighting tears again. I shook my head. “Don’t cry. You fought it this time. You’re here with me, punching me in the chest. That’s all that matters.”

Grey muttered and I was startled when Tokyo looked annoyed. "Well who even said that I will like a jerk like you anyways?" she scoffed before she put down the controller and walked back to her room leaving Grey shocked. "Oh, I think you made her upset Grey." Raze stated and Grey seemed lost for a moment. Tokyo never gets angry. Even I was startled at her reaction. "Awww!" we all turned around when we heard Sky growl. "That's it." before any of us can react, Sky had carried Maxupside down while the other was hitting Sky back.

It was open on the headline: School’s Winter Dance Cancelled. “Okay,” I said. I brushed my fingertips over the book Herb had given me, placed delicately on the bench beside me. But Skye spoke first, before I could. “Pera is awake,” he muttered, looking around anxiously. I could feel his leg bouncing under the table, his knee occasionally knocking into mine. “Maybe her attack will help us narrow down where we need to be looking. And that – it looks like it could be an animal attack. But there’s something about it that’s… odd.”

“You’re going to hurt yourself.” She kicked back, tried to twist out of his hold, her nails digging into his arm. She was not going down without a fight. He hissed slightly, but he didn’t let go. “Yeah,” he said, almost impressed. “Definitely feisty.” “Marcus!” she yelled, her voice cracking as she looked toward the floor. He wasn’t moving. The man adjusted his grip, lifting her off the ground like it was nothing. Sky gasped, her feet leaving the floor as he slung her over his shoulder. “No!” she shouted, pounding against his back. “Put me down! Let me go!”

Her other hand was still holding tightly to the door. Hearing that name, Lucas looked back. Right at that time, the sound of the door slamming was deafening. Realizing that Sky was tricking him, he snorted angrily. He tried to open the door. But apparently, Sky had already turned the key. "Sky, open the door! Let me in! I have to talk to your mother." Behind the door, Sky was sticking with a star pose. Her chest rose and fell, keeping pace with the heartbeat. Her slightly opened mouth occasionally let out tension.
