I just want to be the best for my girl and my son." he said confidently and hearing him I just wanted to hug him but controlled myself to do so.

Arrgghhh ! But truth to be told seeing my father lying, useless, and unable to move broke me into pieces. I never wanted to see him this way. He may never be my hero like for other kids their father is. However, he neither was evil too. He just was...MY FATHER....with immense love for me but without the courage to express it. I hate him... I so fucking hate him.

“Yeah, yeah, Dad. I’ll take care of it. See you at home.” I have to fight the urge to laugh out loud. Dad. Of course. It’s almost too perfect. I had thought that with time, as things got better for my family, I could go back to school and study to be something, but all of that had gone to shit the minute my dad called me at three am. One thing anyone must understand about my dad is this; my dad is not a weak man by any definition. He has always been the hero in my life since I was a little girl. Only my real life hero was ten times better and last night was proof of that. He was hard and rugged with a touch of old world charm, even though he tries very hard, to hide that side of him from the rest of the world. I ran my hand over the place where he'd laid and felt warmth and envelope me. I've never felt this safe and protected before. Never felt this loved and wanted. Even in the midst of his own personal hell, he'd shown me his heart. Yes indeed the day my dad almost beat me to death was the best day of my life. It had led me here, to him.

But the happiest of all is my father, who rises from his seat and immediately walks over to wrap me in his arms. Dad always gives the best hugs, but this is different. I feel the way he trembles, holding me so tightly like he’s afraid to let go. My father is the bravest, most wonderful man in the world. I look up to him. He’s always been my hero, and I want to make him proud. And that’s why it breaks my heart to see him so visibly disturbed. He says nothing because he frankly doesn’t have to. If I thought I was scared, I can’t imagine the turmoil he and the rest of my family must have gone through.
