The room was simple, with a window overlooking the fields and a soothing scent of lavender.
But that night, sleep wouldn’t come. I was restless, tossing and turning in bed, my mind full of questions and fear. Finally, I decided to go down to the living room, hoping a cup of tea would calm my heart.
I found Kael sitting alone on the sofa, the dim light illuminating his tired face. He looked at me, then patted the seat beside him.
“I can’t sleep,” I whispered, sitting next to him.
“Me neither,” he replied softly. “I’m worried about you.”
