They all stood in front of Novelty, the book store that had been converted into a small book cafe with scrumptious cakes on display. We arrived at the bookstore a little after noon and the place was fairly empty. It was a sweet, little shop with all sorts of charming alcoves to snuggle in and read. I loved it. It seemed made for rainy Sundays like this one. Best of all, it had a small coffee shop in the back. Finn and I got hot chocolates and wandered around the stacks of books for an hour. We both picked out a few books and bought them. We shared the umbrella as we walked back out to the truck and got in.

Call me Archie, welcome to "Novelty", my little bookstore. I didn't know why you answer my opening, but you seem too lovely to tend to this old bookstore. Come sit down and we will have some tea." He ushered me to a window seating, the place was nice. "Oh, thank you. And call me Marissa please." I followed him.

Greta and Gabby made their way to Page Turner’s Bookstore just down the street from the Blue Moon Inn. Once inside the warmth of the large shop, Greta was surprised to see a bright modern shop, which included not only a metaphysical section, but my children’s section, too. With soft upbeat music playing in the background, it didn’t take long to find the shopkeeper chatting away to a rather wild looking dog by a fireplace.

I only bought one book ‘Midnight Sun’ by Trish Cook. It was released back in 2017 but Shelly told me that she never got to read it. Some of her friends did tell her though that it was a good read so I bought it. The outline was what caught my eyes. It did seem interesting. Shelly made me promise to lend her the book once I was done reading it. I promised but in return, she had to let me borrow some of the books she already had at home.

She parked on a side street and walked down Main Street to the large, red brick building. The bookstore was an old building on the corner of Main Street and Oak Lane in the heart of downtown Devonsville. A family-owned Italian restaurant sat to the right, and a ice cream shoppe to the left. Everything was decorated for the holidays. Christmas-tree lights sparkled in the windows over carefully arranged books and gift ideas. The door chimed softly as she walked inside. The soft scent of paper and books mingled with fresh coffee and right out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. It was the smell of home. She took a deep breath in and smiled, feeling content.
