I sigh. I dream of brown eyes.

I state. "What did you wish for?" He turns to me. I loved his eyes before, but now I adore them. I don't know what changed, but they are sparkling differently. This is the same look he wore that night we were here. I am not an expert in interpreting things like these, so let me not speak my mind. I don't know the probability of being right, but the highest chance is that I may be wrong. So wrong, presumably. I avoid his eyes and look up at the sky. "I wished that the next time we stood here again, you and I would all be over. We will be free—free from the bondage of our captivity." I say to him, but more to the beautiful sky.

Nearby, Jim, Eryx, and Edgar watched, their expressions revealing nothing, yet speaking volumes. Jim’s hands were tucked into his pockets, his gaze fixed on the Grail. His eyes shimmered with inscrutable depth—calculating, measuring, gambling with something far larger than themselves. Eryx’s brow was furrowed, his face tense, the struggle of his mind visible in every line. Edgar’s fingers trembled slightly. His gaze pierced the Grail with a mixture of regret, anger, pleading, and a sliver of selfish desire. No one could know the precise wishes forming in their minds—but every wish carried a quiet competition, a hidden urgency to surpass the others.

I closed my eyes and here are these weird phrases again. My only wish is to be happy and free, I don't want to spend my remaining days on earth being lonely. I wish I could also make a wish for other people, might as well grant theirs too. To those who are like me, trying to fill in the void and those voids that are not refillable no matter what you do to them and they will just bring you closer to black holes, dark, and no way out. I wish them a light that will guide their ways back.

I sniffed again, feeling like I won against the strongest wolf in our kingdom. He waved his hand in the air, and suddenly, a soft golden glow surrounded us. “How about I grant you a wish to make up for it?” My eyes went wide. “A wish? Really? Like, a real wish?” “Yep,” he said with a lazy smile. “One wish. Anything your little heart desires. But make it quick, I have places to be.” I thought about it for a moment, my mind was rushing me. A wish! Anything! I could wish for all the butterflies in the world, or the biggest cake ever, or—

I hold the doorknob, but someone grabs from the inside, and the door swings open for me. Shock is an understatement when I look up the man in front of me. The feeling is so strange, igniting every cell in my body that I don’t know it’s possible. I meet the gaze of those beautiful gray eyes surrounded by thick lashes that now I envy. And man, those eyes are so powerful and can hypnotize every woman by just one look. He has a small scar across the end of his right eyebrow, and now, he furrows in confusion. Wait a sec. Why though?

My eyes travelled all the way up her body from her toes to her face – fucking perfect. I think my lustful stares were to intense , as she suddenly looked my way. Her eyes latched on to my own. I licked my lips , sending her a message of exactly what I want. Her eyes stir with a hint of mischief and storms with lust and desire. Message received! She bats her eyes at me in acceptance – attempting to look innocent or attempting to look cute , however she horribly failed.

Their soft glow reflected in the ripples, drifting slowly like fireflies caught in glass. Nil stopped and turned to her. “Do you want to make a wish?” he asked, his voice low, teasing, almost a challenge. Zayla hesitated, eyes on the lanterns. “A wish?” “Yes,” he said, stepping closer. “One small hope. Something you want… just this once, let it go.” She glanced at him. “I… I don’t know what to wish for.” Nil smiled, crooked and soft. “Then I’ll make it easy for you. Wish for whatever you want most… I won’t laugh, I promise.”

A pair of red eyes gleamed under the cloak of darkness. Happiness, huh? What is that? I don't need something trivial like that. What I desire is to live in a world where I am supposed to be dead.
