Camilla’s POV

“You are Fired.” These are the three words my supervisor told me as I entered her office this morning.

My breath caught in my throat, I stood there shocked, staring at the letter she threw at me.

Fired? How?

“I'm sorry, ma’am, please, I am just ten minutes late. The traffic was unbearable…..” I tried explaining but she cut me off sharply.

“Enough! You are always making excuses, Camilla. The CEO approves of this because he's tired of hearing different complaints from you every time you are rebuked, so get out.”

I tried begging her again, but It seemed pointless trying to explain myself because she was not listening. Besides, hearing her mention the CEO got me even more upset.

Without another word, I turned and walked out of her office, my heart pounded with anger and disbelief.

I can’t think straight, not after the morning I was having, not after receiving a video of my husband having sex with an unknown woman.

I’ve been hearing rumors that my husband has been dating a woman for some time now, but I thought it was just a lie because I didn’t catch him red handed myself. But the video made me believe it, and it shattered my heart into pieces.

Yes, Daniel and I have our differences, but we try to settle them. So, I never imagined that he could do this to me. But I still need to confirm this from him.

Tears threatened to fall but I controlled it as I headed straight into the CEO’s office, who happened to be my husband of three years, Daniel Caspian. He became the CEO of Azal Pharmaceutical Company after his father's death five years ago.

Daniel and I got married privately, so nobody knows I'm his wife at work. Besides, I had to beg him to let me work as an assistant clerk after our marriage clock one year because I was eighteen years old when I married him and I still have interest in going back to school.

I have stayed by Daniel’s side for three good years, supporting him through everything. Even though Daniel only married me because his fiance ran away a few days before their wedding, and he wanted his mother, who had recently been diagnosed with a liver problem and had less than sixteen months to live, to see her grandchild.

As I walked towards Daniel’s office, his assistant tried to stop me, but I pushed past him and walked in. The door opened and slammed against the wall, which startled Daniel who was sitting at his table.

His expression darkened the moment he saw me and noticed the fury in my eyes. I had barely said anything when he spoke, his face devoid of any emotion.

“What is it, Camilla?” he spat coldly.

“Why am I being fired, Daniel? I'm just an assistant clerk….”

He cut me off sharply, his words sharper than sword.

“You know what, let's get a divorce, Camilla. It's time for this nonsense marriage to end,” he said coldly, his deep voice echoing through the room.

My heart dropped to the pits of my stomach. It felt like someone just hit me hard. My breath caught in my throat, and I stared at him stunned.

“Divorce? Why?” I managed to ask.

He did not only cheated on me and fired me, but he also want to divorce me.

I could feel my heart pounding in my chest from disbelief.

I have always been a dutiful wife since we got married and even nursed his sick mother till she got better, so what could have happened?

Daniel stood up from his seat, walked towards me with a brown envelope in his hand, and threw it at me.

“This marriage is a deal and I am pulling out because you are unable to give me what I want for three years,” Daniel replied with disdain, his cold eyes piercing my heart and shattering it Into pieces.

I stood there unable to speak; my mind raced with thousands of thoughts of how I married him.

Daniel was originally engaged to my sister, Nancy. However, just a few days before her wedding, Nancy suddenly ran away from home because she was not ready to settle down, which upset Daniel, making him marry me instead. After all, he was desperate.

I had just completed my secondary school education at the time, but I had to agree when my father threatened to disown me if I didn't agree with him. But I must confess that I had loved Daniel even when he was engaged to my sister.

Does it mean all the years I spent with him were just a business deal to him?

“What….are you talking about, Daniel? Everything is going well with us and I know God will give us our own children.” I said, my voice shaking.

Daniel laughed out bitterly as he ran a hand through his hair, frustrated. It was as if my presence was irritating him.

But his next words shattered my heart completely.

“The doctor said you have a disease, so you can never have children in your life. You are Infertile, Camilla, and why will I stay married to you if you can't have children? Who knows what you have used your younger years to do?” he scoffed.

His words cut deeper than any wound I ever had in my life. My chest tightens as agony fills every inch of me.

The doctor truly confirmed that I had PCOS three months ago, but I have been treated, so I never expected him to use it against me.

“It's not a disease, Daniel. It's a condition and I have been treated. I will have children at the right time.”

He scoffed. “You can keep waiting, but not with me. I have given you enough chances and it's time we go our separate ways.”

This couldn't be real. I didn't believe a day like this would come in our marriage.

I felt utterly betrayed and used as I tried to control the tears that were in my eyes. My dreams and the life I have planned out are crumbling right in my presence. How would I live if he divorced me after wasting my time for three years? Where will I start from?

“Why…Daniel? What have I done to deserve this treatment from you?” I yelled, my voice cracking.

“You are so cruel, Daniel. For three years I stayed by your side and showed you love. I abandoned my dreams to care for you and your sick mother, yet you and your family criticize everything I do, which I never complain about.”

“Well, if you think I am cruel because I want a baby, then so be it. Besides, I don't want you to work here again because I don't want people to know that you are my ex-wife. It will destroy my reputation if people know you are my ex-wife.”

Each word he said felt like a dagger to my soul, cutting deeper into my wounded heart.

“Don't worry, you won't pay me for not fulfilling your own end of our marriage deal, just pack your things and leave quietly without causing any trouble.”

“No, I won't leave.” I cried out angrily.

So I caused him trouble even after all these years.

I took out my phone angrily, played the sex video, and threw it on his table.

“Is that why you cheated on me?” I asked, looking up at him. “Are you going to divorce me because of her, Daniel?”

He clenched his jaw, staring at me with no single guilt in his expression, he didn't even flinch as he glanced at the sex video.

“I did not cheat on you because that's Nancy, my ex-fiance,” he answered firmly.

My heart sank as I tried to process what I just heard. I couldn't believe it.

“Nan…Nancy?” I stammered. “You cheated on me with my sister? The same Nancy that left you?”

“Yes, Nancy left, but now she’s back and she must take her rightful place because I still love her!”

I wanted to scream, to hold him and beat him to make him also feel the pain he was causing me, but all I could do was just watch him while my heart broke into pieces.

“No, I would rather die than allow this to happen,” I yelled angrily.

He met my gaze and said, “Then prepare to die.”

My world crashed at his words.
