Spark darted to the base, her eyes scanning the ground where the bone-floor met the stone. I held my position, letting them work. My job was to watch the perimeter. The idol dominated the space, but the usual vines were everywhere, a tangled backdrop. And at our feet, the thin creek of blood we’d followed… it originated here. A slow, viscous trickle was weeping from a fissure between the idol’s stone feet. I followed the crimson trickle up to the grinning faces, then let my gaze lift higher, to the sky. My blood went cold.

He stepped forward, his massive frame towering over the vampire as he looked down into the folds of the cloak. The Alpha's dark eyes instantly narrowed as he caught the visual markers of the crisis. Brynn’s face was pale, her soft jasmine scent heavily laced with the metallic, intoxicating tang of primordial vampire blood. But what Garick saw first—what caused his wolf instincts to flare with a protective panic—were the thin, smoky purple-and-black tracks of the Blood-born venom still faintly webbing across her collarbone. They were visibly fading, dissolving into her sun-kissed skin as Riheirk’s ancient, healing blood aggressively incinerated the last remnants of the poison from her system.

Blocking his path, Sky reached out, “Where’s the dragon’s blood?” James pulled out the bottle filled with his blood and gently shook it in front of Sky. Sky reached forward to grab it. However, James managed to dodge in time. “What’s the meaning of this? Do you plan to go against your word?” James said smilingly, “You misunderstood. Let us return to our rooms for now and ask the Blood Race for some equipment to store blood. Only then will I give you what I promised you.” James turned to leave, while Sky followed close behind.

At first I suppose I’d assumed it was my mind playing tricks on me, considering all the blood I’ve had to see today. But when my eyes finally open, I’m looking at a dark night sky illuminated by a vibrant crimson moon. I gasp, looking down to see the beams of red moonlight spilling over my body. Under the blood-hued light of the sky above, I suddenly realize that I’m not bleeding anymore. I touch my fingertips to my chest tentatively. They don’t come away dry–after all, my clothes have been entirely matted with blood and grime. But there doesn’t seem to be any fresh blood.

I step in through the doors of the stadium, and the sight that welcomes me brings a scream of horror out of my vocals because there on the rink is Shane, lying on the ice with a large puddle of blood flooding around him, gusting out from his head and other parts of his body and lastly, he’s lifeless. He’s dead.

I closed my eyes, shielding my stomach with my body. Please. Protect us. I felt a sharp pain in my palm. In my panic, I had gripped the sharp rock too tight. It sliced my skin. A single drop of warm, red blood fell from my hand. It landed on the ice floor. Hiss. The moment the blood touched the ice, a pulse of golden light exploded from the drop. The energy rippled through the floor, hitting the Golem. The monster stopped mid-swing. It stared at the blood. Then it looked at me. Its glowing blue eyes flickered... and turned a soft, reverent gold.

Blood immediately starts pouring from the wound, dripping in thick splotches to the ground, forming a puddle in seconds. No! No, Arlo, don’t you dare die on me, hang on. Take some of my life essence. We’ll get you out of here and to a healer, I tell him, desperately attempting to share my animus with him. It should be possible, but no matter how hard I push, nothing happens.

He tilted his head back, downing the draught himself, then leaned over me and crushed his lips to mine. He tilted his head, forcing the warm liquid from his mouth to mine. But before I could swallow, a violent spasm wracked my body and I began to vomit. Clots of black blood, mixed with shimmering, silver particles, spewed from my mouth. The particles glittered eerily under the light, seeming to writhe as if they were alive. The color drained from Fenris's face. He was horrified. "What… What is this?" he stared at the silver flecks. "Where the hell is the healer? Get in here now!"

"We need to talk." "Not now," Kane muttered. Elias leaned in. "Yes, now. What happened out there on the ice? Your eyes. I saw them change." Kane kept wrapping the tape. "You saw nothing. Drop it." "I cannot drop it," Elias said. "One second you were down hard. Next second you looked ready to tear the boards apart. And those eyes glowed. Tell me what is going on." Kane glanced around to make sure no one listened. "It was the lights. Arena plays tricks sometimes."

His blood was not red, but seven colors. However, the most terrifying thing was, when the seven-colored blood dripped onto the block of ice, a hint of smoke instantly emerged from the twenty centimeter thick block of ice, and the drop of blood instantly melted into a hole. It was as though the block of ice had encountered some sort of enormous flame, and was completely unable to withstand it. The whole hole was completely black, as if it had been burnt. When the seven-colored blood fell on the ground, black smoke also emerged from the ground like the ice. The next second, a hole suddenly appeared on the ground, and the blood fell inside again.
