I was checking timestamps when the lights flickered.
“Storm again?” I muttered.
Lucas frowned. “Or someone trying to cut the feed.”
He moved closer to the control box; I followed instinctively. The small room felt even smaller. The hum of the servers drowned the rest of the world.
“Here,” I said, handing him a flashlight. “You’ll need both hands.”
Our shoulders brushed as he reached forward.
For a moment, everything slowed—the hum, the lights, even my heartbeat.
“Rhea,” he said quietly.
