When my joke lands she tilts her head back to laugh, shaking her head as she looks at me. "You're ridiculous." She says. "You're smiling." I respond. She gives me that warm look again and I wonder what's going through her mind at this moment. "You got any other ones?" She asks and I wrack my brain for any other dad jokes. "Um... The circus lion ate the clown but didn't finish." I say. "Why?" She asks. "Because he tasted funny." I respond and Harper chuckles again. "More." She teases, but I just shrug.

“You know, Ruby, we learned a joke yesterday. Want to hear it?” I nod eagerly, intrigued by the joke that has captured their attention. “Alright,” Ethan begins, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Why don’t grumpy people like corn on the cob?” Playing along, I pretend to ponder the question. “Hmm, I’m not sure. Why don’t they?” “Because they think it’s ‘a-maize-ing’ that anyone could be happy!” Ethan bursts into laughter, and soon, the infectious giggles spread throughout the room.

As much as I was annoyed with my best friend, I couldn't help but laugh at his statement. True, Wade is a bit slow, but he isn't that retarded slow; but for making him admit to himself that he's dumb, it's just taking the piss. Oh, the idiocy of it all... someone yelled. "I won’t shut up until someone answers!" Lucas shouted back, clearly enjoying the attention. "We don’t know and we don’t care, so shut the hell up, Lucas!" another voice barked. "Wrong! It’s called Lemon-aid! Get it? Like the drink?" The groan this time was even louder. "Dad jokes are never, ever funny," Elodie muttered, shaking her head.

They really were amused by my words. “Are you stupid?” One of them said between laughs, shaking his head as though I had just told the most absurd joke imaginable, “Do you even understand what you are saying? We were hoping you would defend yourself by saying something normal, but this is the best you could come up with?”

I joked, but I seem to be the only one amused by the joke. This is embarrassing. Really very embarrassing.

I try my best to stay as calm as possible. Maybe I can think of an idea to get out of here while Dumb and Dumber are busy arguing. "Dude, I had to eat Duncan because of that bitch! The first one to speak must be Dumber because he's trying everything he can to take advantage of the situation. His friend is Dumb because he wants the same thing but is holding back.

He then sat back next to his dumbfounded wife. Jack tucked his shirt back as he sat again silently. Jake the Joker laughed loud and looked at Diamond as if he was the most crazy person he had seen. “So it’s true that men can be dumb when in love.” “Indeed.” King seconded with a faint chuckle. Spade with his raised eyebrow grabbed a glass of wine and drank it fast. “Ladies and gentlemen! The most intelligent person in the world has now turned dumb. I’m speechless.” He stated.
