Why Do I Smell Blood In My Nose Novels & Stories

I'm not afraid of dogs, but I just wanted to make myself safe. While I was waiting, I smell something from afar until I figure it out of what it is. It's a blood. I don't know why I knew it. I can really tell that it's a blood. I can smell it and it seems familiar to me why I found out it was blood. But I don't know what kind of blood it is.

He quickly corrected himself like he just spit out some words in an abomination. I nod nevertheless. With my wobbles legs, I slipped through the exit. "It is just a nosebleed, why panic?" Something ticks off in my head while climbing the staircase. My reflexes hardens. My walk slows down and I snatch my blouse in agony. My sight doubles up. The smell of blood.
