He was only a kid, maybe about fifteen, wearing a turban on his head, pants, and tattered shirt. He sat on his gurney while he watched the others get treated; attached on his left hand was dextrose and another liquid bag connected to his direct intravenous line. It was a dark red color. I clenched my teeth tightly together while he carefully smeared antibiotic cream around the wound. “Well, it won’t need stitches, at least.” Callum glanced up at me as he recapped the bottle of ointment. “Don’t drink too much of that, by the way. Alcohol is a blood thinner, and I’d prefer it if you don’t bleed right through your bandages.”

I immediately opened the medical kit and took the alcohol inside, pouring it on his soles causing him to moan loudly. "Damn me! do you have a grudge against me or is it because you treated me against your will?" He was so angry with me that his two eyebrows met. I just ignored him and wiped clean cotton on his wound. Then I put betadine on it to prevent infection and to stop the bleeding, then I covered it with a white bandage so it wouldn't get dirty or bacteria could get inside. "Next time be careful. I won't be by your side all the time," I stood up and closed his medical kit.

I don't know how many times I mutter ‘sorry’ to him, but by the time I’m done, I’m saying it like a mantra. I used the bandages Mom bought and covered his wounds. He'd need stitches, but I’m not a doctor, so I can't sew his wounds. I don't know how to, and I couldn't even if I was told how to. I would feel like I’m hurting him more than helping him by passing a needle through his skin. Bandages are what we will use to stop his bleeding for now.
