: C. I looked up. Atlas was watching my face. "Three pieces of news." "Yes." "Tell me." "After dinner. Not in the kitchen. In the library." He stood. He took his folder. He walked down the hall toward the library and didn't look back to see if I was following. I followed. The library was lit by a single lamp on the table between the two leather chairs. Atlas closed the door behind me. He didn't sit. He set the folder on the table. He poured two glasses of water from the carafe Marisol had left.

His notebooks was open on the bed, a novel catching the soft light from the window, but Atlas himself was missing. He hung around for a moment, taking in the scattered pencils and his soft cardigan draped over a chair, then gently backed out and closed the door behind him. If Atlas wasn’t upstairs, he was likely with his mom in the conservatory or maybe running an errand somewhere on the estate. Either way, the stillness felt heavy, nudging him toward the one room he usually tried to avoid unless he really had to go in.

"Until one of us is dead." Atlas stared at her for a long moment. Then: "Then I'll be putting you back together every day. Because that's what he'll make me do." "I'm sorry," Novalee said quietly. "Don't be sorry for me. I made my choice." He opened the door. "Don't try to recruit me. Don't try to use me. I am Dante's man." "Are you?" Novalee asked. Atlas's hand tightened on the doorframe. For a moment she thought he might answer. Might admit the truth.

I didn't exactly know what Atlas meant about coming with him. I don't know what he meant by starting again. All I know is that I was with him and we were both inside his car while he was driving somewhere far from the Metro. A place that I didn't know. The skies started to be gloomy as the light and darkness fought for its place. The sun began to bid its goodbye, together with the rise of the moon. I am tired from the long ride that I let myself drown into slumber. I don't know how long I slept in so much tiredness. The only thing I knew was I was awakened by a soft kiss on my lips. And when I opened my eyes, Atlas' face greeted me.

Blake briefly looked down at Athena, silently letting her know those words had been aimed directly at her. Dexter’s attention drifted toward the strange woman crouching on the supermarket floor with shopping bags covering almost her entire face. He frowned slightly before looking back at Blake. “…Should I ask?” Blake shrugged.“I’d rather you didn’t.” Without making it obvious, he stepped sideways, completely blocking Dexter’s view of Athena. She silently thanked every ancestor she had ever known. “Okay…” Dexter sighed. “I’ll pretend it’s perfectly normal to see a grown woman squatting on the floor with shopping bags over her head.” he glanced down at me

But, a whole collection of a slave would be in fact more than abnormal. "Nyx, I'm serious." She whined. "No, you're not." I argued, shaking my head. "But, I am." She said, her tone firm and serious. "Really?" I teased, raising my brows. "Seriously, only your paintings are in the drawers and table of his usual desk." She spilled, making my heart take a flip. "I want to try reading this short story." Aurora said, showing me a little story book as she sat beside me. With nothing left to do, out of curiosity to see more of what Atlas has created I flipped through the pages of his journal, my excitement was short lived as I stumbled upon a shocking revelation.

I barely paid attention to the stunning beauty around me. Atlas took me up to the top floor and into a spacious suite. He settled me on the couch and handed me a stack of project documents with detailed descriptions. I glanced at him. He shrugged, motioning for me to look. With that, he turned to leave. Only then did I relax, reading the documents. It hooked me after the first page, and I immediately fell into a trance. Unknowingly, the sky had darkened. Atlas walked in once again and turned on the light. He had a server beside him who was pushing a cart full of dinner.

I was sitting in silk sheets eating while Marcus was rotting and Theo was losing his mind in a hotel room. My phone buzzed on the mattress. I didn't have to look to know it was Theo. I didn't touch it. "I have to travel this morning," Atlas said, checking his watch. "Important work, even for a Saturday. I’ll be back before you know it." He leaned in close, his shadow falling over me. He didn't go for my mouth. He whispered right against my ear, his breath hot enough to make my skin crawl in the best way. "Stay home and rest. I want you recovered by the time I get back." He nipped my ear hard. "Because the second I walk through that door, I’m going to unravel you all over again."

My eyes had never been so brave as to stare at those blue beady eyes intently, with no fear of what might happen, because Atlas was no longer scary to me but full of disappointment. "I've never slept with another woman, Elsie!" he affirmed that to me, moving closer to me until I was cornered in the corner of the sofa with both my arms held tightly to keep me from moving. "Just like you, I never slept with anyone, and I also know you're lying, so confess. Tell me that the baby is mine!" Atlas' voice buzzed loudly in the room. Our eyes met, and I could see how frustrated the man was facing me, but I wouldn't budge and say what he wanted to hear.
