I had gotten Frankie and that had been the desire of my heart, but the reality that I was the next Luna to our people made my heart so full it felt as if it could burst. I asked what it looked like as I realized I had never actually looked at the Conway Alpha mark that Luna Fran wore as well. “It’s a silhouette of a howling wolf’s head and neck, with a wolf within it howling at a crescent moon and stars,” he said and kissed the area sending a fresh wave of sparks through me.

Stephen smirked. “Yeah you’re right. This place fits me well.” They all talked for a while but now it was getting dark the moon was coming out. “We should probably go inside.” Greg said. “I think the supper’s also ready.” Stephen told. Dara kept on looking at the moon. It seemed as the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. Ellen shook Dara, “Come on honey it’s getting dark and cold.” Dara went inside with her family but she wished to stare at that beautiful thing for a little longer.

In fact, I usually freak out, as they say, very easily, that's why I take some medications to try to control my temper, and at that point I picked one of the vials that was in my inner pocket of the blouse and put it in my mouth. Suddenly, an image appears on the screen, I manage to identify it as the back of my necklace. "What are we looking for?" Darius asks. "Do you see this here?" Kayden questions, gesturing to the right hand side of the screen. I look a bit closer to see a very faint design in the back. It's so small that it was undetectable to the naked eye. It was a symbol-like object. It looked like three crescent moons turned away from each other. In the middle of each crescent moon was a circle. I was guessing symbolized full moons.

It felt like I was there to experience it. My gaze fell upon a particular mural, one that drew me in with an almost magnetic pull. It depicted a scene unlike the others—an image of the Moon Wolf standing alone atop a cliff, its head raised toward the heavens. The moon above it was full, its light shining down upon the wolf as if blessing it with its celestial power. Surrounding the wolf were swirling patterns of light, symbols that I instinctively knew represented the flow of energy from the moon to the wolf. Giovanna grins. The Luna smiles and looks like she’s about to leave the room when she freezes, staring at my mates exposed mark. It turned out beautiful. It’s all black and has kind of a tribal feel. It has imagery depicting a full moon with claw marks on either side circled by a large bite mark that wraps from the front of her shoulder to the back. It’s the most beautiful mark I’ve ever seen, but it’s entirely possible that I’m just biased.

He stood there, and like a propelled rocket he came running towards us and he helped the both of us out of the eerie premises. "Lucia, stay with me." He tapped on my cheeks. I open my eyes close up to his perfect jawline even when my sight was worn out and blurry, he still looked perfect, Moon was beside him playing with the big globe in the corner, I held my hands to his cheeks and close my back into my slumber, he sighed, inferring that I would get better soon and he took care of Moon until they fell a hush of the night and fell into a slumber.

Thunderheads crowded the moon, but one silver beam speared down on the freshly chiseled stone circle—the site Dylan had ordered crews to carve for moon-oaths. She traced the pattern with her eyes: concentric rings, outer runes marking honesty, inner ring etched with the pack’s emblem—a wolf guarding a single star.

Promises made to moons that did not forgive. “I didn’t choose this,” I said, the words scraping free. “I didn’t ask for any of it.” The silver warmed around me, almost gentle. PURPOSE DOES NOT REQUIRE CONSENT. A shape emerged from the void. Massive. Wolf-like. Its form rippled as if forged from liquid moonlight, eyes burning white-hot. Each step bent the silver around it, reality folding in deference. The Moon Guardian. It extended a paw larger than my torso and pressed it lightly to my chest.

Outside, wolves stand frozen in the courtyard, heads lifted toward the sky, bodies stilled as if caught mid-breath. Every single one of them felt it. The bond didn’t just settle between us. It rippled outward, but how far? How many packs felt the aftermath of our bonding? They are staring at the moon, but when I look up at it as well, it is wrong. A full moon blazes overhead like a sun shining in the middle of the night. I shake my head. This is wrong. The moon cycle is not for another two weeks. It should not be full. Not tonight.
