At this rate, I was going to die before reaching forty.

I opened my eyes when one of the household staff approached me.
"May dumating po."
"Who?"
"Matandang babae po. Sabi niya, pinapunta raw po siya ni Madam."
My brows furrowed. My mother. Of course.
"Let her in."
A few minutes later, an elderly woman entered the room.
She appeared to be somewhere in her late sixties, perhaps older. Her silver-gray hair was neatly tied at the back of her head, and she wore a simple dark dress without any visible brand or expensive accessory. An old measuring tape hung loosely around her neck.
