it was too early to call it hormones… My eyes landed on the tiniest pair of baby shoes I had ever seen. Cream colored. Soft. Perfect. They were so little that they fit right into my palm when I picked them up. And suddenly, before my brain could stop me, I dropped them into the cart. The second I dropped them, I froze. Cassius froze too. Slowly, very slowly, he turned his head and looked down into the cart. Then he looked at me. His brows furrowed in confusion. “Sweetness…” He said slowly. “Why is there a baby shoe in the cart?”

Phoebe was storming into the room with two shows in her hand, and she was pissed. Phoebe threw the shoes that she was holding into the trash can. “It's already too late; I can't find another shoe; the engagement is starting soon.” Her gaze turned to Ashford. “Why are you here?”
