Sweet Dreams
Because I know if I do, if our eyes meet again, I won’t have the strength to keep moving.
I tell myself to put one foot in front of the other and walk away like I always have. Like I learned to, like I survived by doing.
Walking away has always been my instinct, My shield. The only way I ever knew how to protect my heart when staying hurt too much but tonight, every step feels heavier than the last, and for the first time, walking away doesn’t feel like survival.
It feels like losing him all over again.
I had expected him to make a move or say something, but he’s been silent.
