Moonbound Deception
Not the usual quiet I could feel at Kael’s ranch, where there was always life; laughter, whispers, and warmth flowing like a river.
I took a deep breath, trying to grasp reality. Slowly, I moved my body, sitting up on the mattress. But my eyes immediately scanned the entire room—there was no one here. No friendly breaths, no Luna’s laughter, no Elena’s light footsteps, not even Kael’s usual traces I knew I could find.
That silent sound gripped my chest, as if erasing their existence. My voice broke, trembling in the quietness.
“Kael...?” I called with a voice that almost vanished in the cold air.
