That ground-versus-sky dynamic is where most of the tension lies. The characters often seem more in sync in the cockpit than in their personal lives, which I found refreshingly messy. The novel doesn't shy away from how their careers strain the relationship, making the quieter, domestic moments they fight for feel genuinely earned rather than just a given happy ending.

The central figure is definitely Stella, this incredibly driven yet emotionally closed-off pilot trying to make it in a male-dominated field. Her dynamic with Leo, her charming but sometimes infuriatingly laid-back co-pilot and love interest, drives most of the plot. He's the one constantly pushing her to loosen up and see the bigger picture beyond just professional success.

Then there's Captain Vance, their stern but secretly supportive mentor who has this whole tragic backstory involving a past crash. He adds a layer of gravity and history to the airline setting. You can't forget Mira either, Stella's sharp-tongued best friend and a genius aircraft mechanic who provides most of the comic relief and blunt truths. The antagonist is mostly internal—Stella's own fears and past failures—but there's a corporate rival, a slimy executive named Finn, who creates some external conflict trying to sabotage their airline's new route bid. The interplay between their professional ambitions and personal hang-ups is really well done.

I always felt Leo's younger sister, who's a budding aerospace engineer, was an underrated character. She only shows up a few times but really highlights the theme of legacy and the next generation taking flight, literally and figuratively.

I don't think any of the major audiobook platforms have picked it up for a professional recording. I ended up caving and reading it on a serialization app, but I kept wishing I could listen to it during my commute.

There's a slim chance a fan-made audio reading exists floating around on some forum, but the quality can be really hit or miss. For something with as much romantic tension as this story, you really want a good narrator to capture the mood. My fingers are crossed that if the novel gains more traction, maybe we'll get an official version. Until then, it's back to scrolling for me.
