Bound by His Promise
“Ma’am, we can’t let anyone in. The east wing just collapsed!”
“No! You don’t understand! Lucas is in there!” I shouted, my voice cracking.
He hesitated, then looked away. “We’re still pulling people out. Please stay back.”
I wanted to push through, but my knees gave out. I fell to the ground, trembling, staring at the burning building. The glass and steel tower that once stood tall — now a wounded shadow, bleeding fire.
My phone buzzed. A message. Unknown number again.
> “He won’t die that easily. But the game has changed.”
