The Rebirth of Love
I needed a drink, a distraction, anything to numb the pain of betrayal, the shattering of my illusions.
I sat at the bar, my gaze fixed on the swirling amber liquid in my glass, my mind replaying the scene in Hope's house, the accusing words, the look of pain in her eyes.
I had been so sure, so certain, that I was finally letting go of the past, that I was ready to love again. But now, I wasn't so sure. I had been betrayed, my trust shattered, my heart broken. Again.
I took another sip of my drink, the bitter taste a reflection of the bitterness in my soul. I didn't know what to do, what to believe. All I know was that I felt lost, alone, and utterly betrayed.
