Truth Be Told Meaning Novels & Stories

“Hindi pa ngayon… pero malapit na.” “Bakit hindi mo masabi ngayon?” Doon ako natahimik. Her question hung heavily between us, and I had no response. Because I knew that once the truth left my mouth, there would be no turning back for her. Hindi na siya makakaalis sa mundo ko. She would be locked into my reality forever. “At least trust me this much,” paos kong sabi, putting every ounce of my sincerity into it. “I'm protecting you.”

“Believe me. I’m telling the truth, Anak. I can’t lie to you,” she said one day when she visited my house. “It’s time that you know the truth dahil hindi ko na rin kayang mabuhay tayong lahat sa kasinungalingan–!” I scoffed at her remarks. My eyes burn form the unshed tears, head aching from the information, and I couldn’t even fucking swallow.

sabi niya sa akin. I quickly nods my head. "Oo, bro. Nagsisinungaling naman siya kung kailangan talaga lalo na pagdating sa amin, especially to her parents and friends. Nagsisinungaling siya pagdating doon. Madalas ay hindi naman siya nagsisinungaling, bro. She's always telling me the truth. Hindi naman siya sinunggaling na tao, eh. Kagaya ko rin siya na hindi naman nagsisinungaling unless ay kailangan talaga. Minsan ay kailangan rin naman natin na magsinunggaling pero madalas ay ang magsabi ng totoo ang ginagawa natin. Kung sinunggaling talaga tayong tao ay sinunggaling talaga tayo palagi," sagot ko sa kanya.

dagdag niya, mas mababa pero mas delikado, “stop acting like truth is some kind of freedom.” Nanikip ang dibdib ko. “Then what is it?” bulong ko. Nakatitig siya sa akin. Diretso. Madilim. “Sometimes,” sabi niya, paos ang boses, “truth is the thing that gets you killed.” Tumawa ako. Isang tunog na walang saya. “Convenient.” “Freya—” “No.” Hinila ko ang pulso ko palayo. This time, binitawan niya.

“If is a big word. If implies uncertainty. It means you don’t have proof. “Not yet.” Lumingon siya sa’kin. “Are you looking for proof? Or are you looking to create a narrative?” “I’m looking for truth.” “Whose truth? Yours? The media’s? Some conspiracy theorist’s?” Lumapit siya sa’kin. “Or actual, factual truth backed by evidence?” Ilang dipa nalang ang pagitan namin. Ramdam ko yung tensiyon sa aming dalawa. “I want the actual truth,” sagot ko. “Don’t you?”

"You didn't told me that you're into acting? why don't you try to pass an application form in Performance Arts club? You're such a good actress Crisanta. Very well act! do I need to gave you award for that?" "What are you saying?! sinasabi ko lang kung anong totoo!!" "Oh so you want to make them know the truth? should I tell them the truth that I know too? The whole truth ofcourse, isn't that fun?" "What?! you think they would believe you?! huh!? kilala nila ako pero ikaw hindi ka pa nila ganun kakilala so what's the point of telling them your made up truth? kung hindi naman sila maniniwala sayo?!"

Seryoso lamang siyang tumitig sa ‘kin. “Tell me the truth, Trisha..” “Is she telling the truth?”

It's better to tell them the truth than making them believe a lie. "Enough, Trixia's telling the truth. Kahit siya nasasaktan, why would she tell a lie?" Pagpakalma ni Cassy sa usapan. "I'm out'a here." Alam kung naiinis siya pero 'yon 'yong totoo, an he has to accept that. "Pupuntahan ko siya." Sabi ni Kaiser sa akin upang tumango ako. "Bro! Hintay!"

Now that everything’s real… the truth might destroy her. She already lost so much.

It's super hard actually. And by honest, I don't mean just saying whatever's on your mind, no matter how unpleasant or potentially hurtful it may be. But just as there's a difference between "full disclosure" and "honesty," there's also a difference between "I'm going to tell you what I think you want to hear because I'm afraid to hurt you or lose you in that way, that’s why" and "I need to be honest about my feelings, even if it's hard because I love and care for you and I don’t want to keep anything about you." That’s completely a two different phrases.
