The vibration of my phone made me groan in my sleep. Ignoring the unstoppable vibration, I turned to my other side with a pillow over my head.

“Your phone is ringing.” A voice beside me grunted, making me shoot my eyes open faster than the lighting.

One look at the man who was sleeping beside me made all the memories rush into my mind, and the panic of finding another man on my bed subsided. Calming my racing heart, I grabbed my phone with a scowl on my face.

“What?” I let out an annoyed grunt without even looking at the caller id.

“Dude, where are you?” My best friend's voice came through, and somehow, he sounded more annoyed than me.

A yawn stopped me from snapping at my friend. It's not like he did something to annoy me. I was just sore all over, and the reason was sleeping beside me on the bed.

“What happened for you to call me in the middle of the night, Alex?” I complained before hitting my head on the soft pillow once again.

“Seriously, it's too early to do drugs, Kai. My balls are freezing over here. Come within half an hour or I'm going there without you.” He sounded so angry that it's evident he would choke me to death if I were near him.

One thing about Alex that I preferred him without was his anger issues. One good thing about his anger was that I was fully awake now.

“Who are you talking to?” The man beside me mumbled, still half asleep.

I ignored him and focused on my best friend, “I don't understand. Where are we going?” My confusion fueled his anger even more. He yelled so loud that I was sure everyone near him heard him.

“He is yelling like a banshee. Seriously, who is this guy? Troubling ex?” The man inquired, getting rid of his sleep and getting the blanket off of him.

“Seriously, Kai? You didn't find any other time to fuck?” He yelled. He probably heard the man beside me.

“If your pea-sized brain has forgotten, let me remind you that we have a certain school reunion to go to today and I only agreed to go to that stupid reunion because you begged me to. Now, get his dick out of your ass and meet me near the station.” He barked before cutting the call.

As I finished the call, I found his eyes lingering on me, asking questions which I wasn't going to answer. He probably heard most of it. Alex wasn't very polite when he was angry.

While avoiding his eyes, my eyes landed on my phone. Much to my surprise, it's only 7 in the evening. Did we enjoy ourselves so much that both of us drifted to sleep?

“I need to go.” I muttered before getting out of the bed and looking around for my clothes.

“I was about to leave too. Let me give you a ride.” The man insisted, getting off the bed.

I wished he hadn't been so sweet. I wasn't going to stick around and I told him beforehand that it's strictly a one time thing. I would hate to be the bitch and break his heart for not being something more than one night stand.

“Actually, it's not needed. Let's part our ways here.” I made sure to keep my eyes on him as I spoke so that he understood that I was being serious about it being a one time thing.

His face settled for a dull look replacing the bright smile it once held, making me feel bad but not enough to change my mind. I was here on business. If anyone knew to keep business and private life separated, that would be me.

“Are we gonna meet again at least?” He asked hopefully while throwing my shirt towards me which I was looking for.

“I doubt it.” I replied, slipping on my jeans, “I live out of town.”

Thank God the shirt didn't need ironing. I didn't have the time for that. I was afraid the hulk in front of me ripped the shirt apart. He wasn't gentle when he was helping me get rid of the clothes. He was an unplanned surprise. I liked it but didn't hope for it again. I just needed a release and he happened to be at the bar where I was killing time. Knowing what I would be facing today, I really needed that. God, I must be too out of it. I didn't even know where I was. By the look of it, we were in a shabby motel room.

When I was busy putting on my shirt hurriedly, he approached me. Not again. I didn't know how to handle a clingy man, especially when Alex would put a death warrant on my name if I didn't hurry.

“I really liked it.” He kissed my cheek, “I know you wanted it to be a one time thing but I think you also felt something, right? Can you reconsider? I can go out of town and all. I'm willing to do anything.” And he kept mumbling.

Though he was sweet, he was being pushy right now and it was getting on my nerves. I didn't have the stamina to tell him I was emotionally unavailable and someone as sweet as him deserved someone better.

“I told you it wasn't going to be more than that.” I started, not knowing where I was going with it, “I'm sorry.” I finished.

“Please?” He pressed again.

“I had a great time.” I pecked his lips, “Bye.” With that I dashed out of the room as fast as I could.

It took me more than half an hour to find Alex at the station and to say he wasn't happy would be an understatement. He was fuming inside his car when I found him.

“If you hibernate under the AC, you are supposed to freeze your balls, man.” My remark earned me a smack to my head.

“I don't understand why you are so eager to attend this stupid reunion. You even came back to the town after ages for this damn reunion.” He asked me a much more important question, ignoring my earlier statement.

“Aren't you skipping a few questions before you jump to it? Like who I was with and where I was?” I tried to lighten up the atmosphere. It was futile as expected.

“I'm not interested in your sex life. I think even you aren't interested in your sex life. Do you even know his name?” He got me there.

“Nope.”

“Kai, What's going on?” He sounded worried and skeptical at the same time.

I couldn't blame him. Even my mom was surprised by my sudden arrival. Of course, I didn't tell her I was home solely for the reunion. I could fool mom but Alex was a different case. We had been best friends since we were in diapers. It's natural that it came as a shock to him that I was back in town for something insignificant.

“I'm not driving till you answer me, man.” He glared at me, crossing his arms over his chest.

“I'm your best friend. At least, you can tell me what happened. I can slide you leaving me all alone here for all those years but even I have limits.” Listening to him made me realize I totally shut him down after that day.

I sighed. Alex deserved to know what I was planning. It's time I let him in my life again now that I had everything I even dreamt of. He always stood by me even when I pushed him away.

After debating with my inner conflict, I confessed, “I'm here to meet Hunter Steele.”

Silence prevailed between us for longer than I expected. Alex didn't utter anything. He looked so baffled that his mouth was hanging open.

“Dude, say something.” I nudged him, trying to get his attention.

“Let me get this straight-” He turned to me before continuing, “You are here to meet the same bastard who made you leave the town?” I nod my head sheepishly.

“Yeah.” He looked disappointed and alerted.

“Why?” He asked in a gloomy tone. He was worried about me but he didn't let it show.

“You will see.” I winked.
