Perang antara marga Kuromori dan Makigara yang tak berkesudahan telah merenggut banyak nyawa. Para anak yang ditinggal mati menjadi yatim atau bahkan.yatim piatu. Isae adalah contoh anak yatim piatu itu. Ditinggal mati oleh ayah, lalu disusul oleh ibu yang lebih mementingkan ego untuk gantung diri. Alih-alih setelah tumbuh dewasa ingin ikut berperang, rupanya apa yang dia lihat lebih menakutkan dari perang itu sendiri. Aksi pelecehan kian turut andil, ketakutannya bertambah saat lemparan pisau amatiran milik Isae melesat tak cekatan melukai seorang gadis yang dia temui di sungai. Kondisi bertambah buruk dengan hubungan persahabatan Isae dan Kasami yang retak karena hal sepele dan beberapa teror di masing-masing kubu. Tapi teror itu yang menjadi alasan Tuan Ikada memerintah Tuan Hayade untuk mengirimkan para remaja ke kota Yokohama agar di didik. Apa daya, rencana itu bagaikan air yang mengalir sehingga seseorang berhasil menculik orang-orang secara acak baik di desa Kuromori maupun di desa Makigara, sehingga mereka sadar ini genderang perang yang lebih hebat. Namun sebagiannya beranggapan ini adalah tipu muslihat sekelompok orang yang ingin melihat kedua marga ini sama-sama sengsara.
